Your top 5 Huna Day draft beers

J. Wakefield killed it...just awesome.

The highlight of my weekend was the Mayan Chocolate Doughnut Hunahpu at Hunahpu's Hangover Day at 7venth Sun on Sunday. It was amazing, as was the 7venth Sun Maple Bacon Chelsea Grin (imperial porter which is an way-too-easy-drinking 12.8%).

 

Caligula Blushing was the best in terms of sour/tart beers.
Bourbon Vanilla Dark Lord was as expected, amazing.
I was also a fan of Funky Buddha's Starfruit Berliner. I had it at their anniversary party last year and wasn't a fan. It had this musty, bad funk to it. This version was much more crisp and clean. The starfruit flavor came through nicely.
PFDF was pretty memorable and great.
It's tough to pick a #5, but I will go with Pappy Brings the Funk. A really weird and wonderful beer by Swamphead.

Bummed I didn't get a chance at the Angry Chair brews, Dark Lord or Leon, but there is always next year!

My boy JW killed it for sure...for those of you who missed the Master Blaster Porter, you really missed out (first beer of the day). The only thing I missed out on was Last Snow, but I've previously had it. I'm sure I poured some of you JW's beers...

Many liked the Pineapple but just wasn't for me.

 

J Wakefield was best of show IMO for sure. Every one we tried was amazing! A MUST have for sure.

 

Brengle was thaa shiitttt... also the galaxy was really good.
Anything angry chair kicks ass, and the brewer is the man.. real nice dude (was the red headed guy pouring beers in the back of the taproom). They make some awesome sours so pretty much all of those.
3Floyds black ipa (wasnt dark by any means which was kinda wierd) was really tasty.
Hunahpu on tap was obviously killer
Heard that Zombie Dust was on tap as well but never found it (wasted by then haha)
Also, the Jalapeno was getting some nice recognition but i didnt try it.



Wasnt too impressed with the Brewery "White Oak", Jai ali white oak is 100 times better imo.
The Green Flash "Candela" (Spanish cedar wine, brown??) wasnt too impressed with either. waay too much cedar imo. Would rather a Humidor series cedar.

As for the ^^JW, tried one sour that i forgot the name of that was absolutely amazing. A friend of mine went just for the JW and said all of that stuff was really impressive too.

CCB Blueberry Muffin Brown was probably right outside of those. I love CCB for all the crazy stuff they do. As noted by another poster, this is almost a novelty beer, but it's executed so well I can't write it off.

I enjoyed pretty much everything I had: Mango Habenero Jai Alai was great, Galaxy IPA was really solid, BP Habanero Sculpin is one of my favs (so it's hard to consider it top 5), Green Flash Surf's Up and Green Room DIPA were both good, and the Dos Costas Oeste on Grapefruit was very refreshing. Oh FFF Rice was predictably good and Blue Point's No Apologies DIPA was surprisingly good.

The only thing I had that was not good was the CCB S'mores Brown. Have to give them credit though, it certainly was S'mores-y. Glad I tried it at least.

Did anyone get to try the Tropical White Oak Jai Alai? It kicked right when I got up. As did Pineapple Upside Down.

I liked whatever the five were I got when I made it through the 1 hour line to get draft beer.

 

I got in line at 9am when they opened the doors to the taproom and got beers no prob. obviously if you waited until 1:00 to get in youre pretty much SOL

 

just to clarify that is Ryan, the owner of Angry Chair...the brewer is this guy Ben...he's posted in this very thread...hmm
