Following on from the 'Stout' hearted theme I'm currently enjoying a quick half of 'Tree Tops Stout' by Windsor & Eton (for the Diamond Jubilee). Not available in bottled format yet, but popped into the brewery yesterday and acquired 2 litres as fresh as it comes !

A most tasty stout with a coffee backbone :stuck_out_tongue:

Any way you slice it these beers are really too old and if I was you guys I'd probably be wanting my money back.
For me there's no regrets now in giving Beer Merchants a body swerve.

I think really as well the American brewers should be angry, as we're getting poor examples of their good beers. I mean if I brewed beer and Americans started talking about how crap my stuff was when they'd only had out of date bottles i'd be angry.

Just had the Hedgerow Porter. The saying "Save the best 'til last' was certainly true in this instance. For those of us here of a certain age, remember an advert that was on tv possibly in the 70's, I can't remember what the advert was about but the catchphrase on it was "They're tasty, tasty, very very tasty, they're very tasty, they're very tasty" substitute tasty for fruity. On pouring the beer into the glass, I thought I had fallen into the hedgerow. It was bursting with berry fruit on the nose and in the mouth. I could do with another one now! Tut!

I think the advert was for Kellogg's fruit and fibre about mid eighties(??)and I am sure there was one with starring Ross Kemp

Ah! I knew someone would know what I was on about. I bet they were not as tasty as this beer!

It was pretty good, though I'm not sure I'd rate it as the world's best beer. Still an impressive effort - certainly a beer to savour and enjoy. I think perhaps the hype contributes to the problem - the higher people pedestalise it, the further it falls when you actually try it. And the fact that I paid about 9 euros to get it. But I'd certainly pick some up again in Belgium at a more reasonable price.....

Glad to hear that this one is good - I had one of the Morrisons beers the other day (Chocolate & Vanilla stout) and was unimpressed. A sweet, cloying mess. Although I've rated some of their other efforts more highly.

Yeah, I haven't contacted them yet but I'm in two minds about it. Not that I want my money back as such, but I'm annoyed that they don't pull old stock and sell it off a bit more quickly.

After a gammon supper with curly fries settling down with the Pride of Pendle and try and work out what will be my 175th Ba review.

I misjudged the rim of my pint pot and whilst trying to judge the aroma of my Cromwell Stout snorted a load of beer :flushed:

Maybe you can give the aroma a 'texture' score?

Just cracked a Mikkeller Beer Hop Breakfast - there's a bit of coffee in it!

Heh, yeah.... The thing is, the few that I've tried have been impressive - so that gets factored into the decision to drop a ton of money on a bottle. Would definitely recommend Beer Geek Breakfast, I had that a while back and thought it was incredible.

This one's pretty tasty - tons of coffee and good body.

To be honest I wasn't that impressed with Beer Hop or Beer Geek Breakfast, espcially at nearly a tenner a pop. Well I tell a lie they were ok but with the price tag i was secretly a tiny bit glad they were sold out when i went to get one for a friend.

I probably would give Mikkeller a shot if I could just go and pick one of a shelf and take it home rather than order online.

Is it bad when you open a beer and the cap's rusted on the inside a bit?

It is if you collect bottle tops.
Get it down you, it will do you good, a bit of rust is a bit of iron lol.

I know but could it mean the beer has been affected adversely?
