Anywhere better than 1604 Gabriel's or De Zavala Specs?? Any good beer bars with more to offer than yard house/saucer??
Gabriel's and Specs De Zavala are the best retailers in town. World of Beer is a bit more of a drive, but I like their selection better than the Saucer. And Freetail is awesome. If you're ever in the Alamo Heights area, there's Central Market and there will soon be a growler station called Big Hops that will have a strong TX focus.
The Alon HEB at NW Military and Wurzbach is pretty awesome. I was there on Saturday and they have a ton of Bigfoot and Narwhal and obviously a whole lot of other cool stuff. There's also another liquor store on Bandera called Doc's liqour that lets you break up six packs. They actually have everything already broken up.
Does anyone know if the Gabriel's in San Marcos has the same selection as the others or is it literally a discount outlet for overstock?
The San Marcos store doesn't have quite as good of a selection as the Superstore in SATX, but it's still an excellent selection overall. And since they share Austin's distribution network, they have some beers that the San Antonio store doesn't (like Ballast Point).
