What kind of stuff did they have in years past? Also, any sort of bottle sharing go on? I haven't been before :slight_frown:

I went the last 3 years. The first year I went I loved it, back when you bought drink tickets for $1 and if you bought 20 you got a golden ticket for a fancy beer. The second year was ok, great beers, but so damn packed, I still enjoyed it for $35 at the time. Last year was far better than the prior year due to increased price and a 1/3 cut in the number of tickets sold. There was still lines, and it was still a bit more crowded than the first year I went but it was far better and I'd go back if I knew the # of tickets is the same. Hell I'll probably go anyways unless I hear of a more awesome event going on just because I think I'll be flying back from San Francisco the 29th with some co-workers and they like beer and also that night is Roller Derby and I've done that combo the last three years (Firkin Fest followed by North Star Roller Girls bout).

    Let's see...*consults last year's program*

A few of my favorites from last year were:

Lift Bridge Irish Coffee Stout w/Coconut
Tallgrass Halcyon on Peach Whiskey Oak Cubes & Dry Hopped
    Capital Bourbon Barrel Autumnal Fire
    Fulton Oaked War & Peace
Hinterland Bourbon Oak Aged Double IPA

This will be my 3rd year in a row. And personally, I thought last year was rather awesome.

Part of that might have been the 70 weather, but it also seemed smoother running with more space than the year prior. I'm hoping this year is equally awesome.

Sounds good. I went to the first year, and it was OK, but heard nothing but horror stories about the 2nd, and general discontent about the 3rd. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

Not a fan of the attitude I've gotten there in the past though.

I know that everybody is bitching about the $50 cost for Firkin Fest (including myself), but here is a link to get it for $25 that was just posted in a different thread:

Not sure how many that they will offer at this price.

Wow, that's a big cut! Assuming 3 people click on your link, even cheaper for you, huh? Good to know they are doing whatever they can to pack that tent to the gills again this year...

No kidding. This reads, "Our price point was too high" all over it.

I think the bigger problem is that Easter is the next day. Prob not the smartest day to have this on.

I can't picture that they are just going to leave the full price people hanging, because as of right now 75 people have already bought this at $25, which I might guess (not having attended before, but just from having seen the parking area) is about half capacity already sold at half price. Maybe they will hand out HG shirts to the full price people or something like that. And if they do, you can probably thank me for this post, because as of last night, it didn't sound like they had any intentions of doing so.

I think I would be more pissed if I was offered a Happy Gnome t-shirt in lieu of the extra $25 paid for a ticket.

However, it could read " Firkin Fest 2013- I paid double the price and all I got was this crappy t-shirt."

This - and $50 was way too much IMO

I don't think you understand the 'business model' of the Happy Gnome...

I haven't been there in probably three years now but it was home to the 7 dollar pint then. God help ya if you ordered a high abv offering...

If only we could link old site threads about how crowded it has been...75 is nowhere near half capacity. See HG business practice posts above.

Based on how long it is taking to sell tickets, I am now concerned that they increased the number of tickets again after cutting the number last year.

This ticket price drop is really disappointing. At a minimum they better roll out a few special "golden" firkins available only to those of us that got hosed paying full price.

If they do nothing a boycott may be in order. There are too many other places to get good beer. I can certaily live without giving them any more of my business.
