Shell station did have a little bit left thirty minutes ago...

I had already picked up two bombers and a sixer from two different stores... so I didn't get any at the Shell in Friendswood.. but I did get a Karbach hellfighter and a Goose Island Matilda there... so I spent too much on beer today.

To be honest, I was more interested in picking up Hellfighter today than DR13. Charles hooked up my Karbach needs and I left the DR13s for the next guy.

Same with me.. I had already picked up two bombers of DR13 the first place I went... all they had left was a case of bombers... then I lucked into one of the last six packs at a Specs... which is all I really wanted...

Then stopped by Shell to get me a Hellfighter... and grabbed the Matilda also.. Charles told me about the DR but I left it for others.. I have enough for me!

So you spent like $250 on 4 cases of a beer you've never even had before? Hope you like it.

Drinking one now, its pretty dang good. The mouthfeel is thicker than a Bernardus or Rochfort, Id say it leans more Westy/Bernardus than Rochfort on flavor. Little cloves, fairly sweet - chocolate and licorice...I like it. In the upper echelon of DRs (I like 11 [fresh], 9 and 5 the best)...its up there with those IMHO.

With age DR4 is the best. Fresh DR6 was the best.

If I had to put in my 2 cents.

Tonight I'll see about this DR13.
