A big congratulations to the folks at Reuben's Brews for winning 2 Golds and 1 Silver medal at the 2013 World Beer Championships!

    Reposted from RB's FB Wall:
"We found out yesterday that we won our first medals of 2013! Two golds and a silver at the 2013 World Beer Championships. Our Wheat IPA and Imperial IPA won golds, our Imperial Rye IPA a silver. The Wheat IPA will be back on tap in time for the summer! Here are the reviewers notes for the Wheat IPA."

Seriously, Reuben's is doing some solid brews. Everyone needs to check it out in Ballard. Their diverse beer line up offers something for everyone. You won't be disappointed.

I haven't had their Wheat IPA, but the Imperial Rye IPA is fantastic. Glad to see them reeling in the awards.

Congrats to Adam and Family at RB. They really make solid beers in every category I've had. The IIPA and Imperial Rye IPA are outstanding. Can't wait for the Port Old Ale...and bottles

Bottling is on the horizon as well.....Imperial Rye IPA, American Rye, and Roggenbier if memory serves me correct.

Reubens seems to be hit or miss to me, i agree their imperial ipa is awesome and I am glad to see they won a medal for it but I have not been a fan of most his other beers. Out of 15 beers of his i have tried i have only like a couple. The recent release of their imperial stout was a total failure imo, worst imp stout ever...sorry. I am not a huge fan of Reubens overall, but at least their hoppy beer are on point.

How widespread is their distribution at this point? The February blog mentioned something about their beer now being available in some 35 locations. At this point, can their beers be found outside of Seatlle (like in Tacoma, for example)?

Has only been spotted in Tacoma once. Tacoma Brewing had a 1/6 bbl of Roasted Rye some time ago.

Their Roggenbier and Dry Stout two of my favorites.

Thanks for the shout out guys! Interestingly, the Wheat IPA was originally a one-off batch - but we're definitely going to rebrew it now  In response to some of your questions above...

We brew small batches and self distribute. Most of the accounts we have are rotating taps - for example Brouwer's, Naked City, Chuck's, Beer Junction, Noble Fir, Black Bottle and the Wurst Place. We go on tap, and then off a few days later. We do have some designated handles now - in Zeeks West Seattle, Zeeks Phinney and Bastille.

I've just been speaking to Pint Defiance in Tacoma about getting some bottles next month, and when we deliver we'll also bring some kegs.

We will be bottling next month! The American Rye, Imperial Rye IPA, and Roggenbier. I'll email our newsletter out in a week or so with details of which stores we'll be in and when.

Cheers, and thanks for your support!

Medals aren't everything, but 9 medals in the first 7 months of business is quite the feat. Brewing 9 different beers good enough for public consumption during that time is a lofty goal in itself. Congrats, Reubens!

Very cool. I'll ask Barry about your beer next time I'm in the store. That probably won't be for a couple of weeks anyway, so it sounds as if that should work out perfectly.

Any chance for Bellingham/Mt. Vernon/North Sound area? Copper Hog, Green Frog and Elizabeth Station in Bham would be interested (if you want, I could have a word with owners) and The Porterhouse in Mt.V would probably be interested.

And in another example of a Washington brewer listening to, and responding to, requests and suggestions, Reubens Brews will soon be wetting whistles in Tha 'Ham! Thanks Reubens!

Finally got to stop in @ Reuben's this afternoon w/ some friends. Really enjoyed the Roggenbier and Imperial Oatmeal Stout. The DIPA was great too. Expect to see more great things coming from this new local gem. Cheers!

Well, turns out I'm disappointed. I previously had their American Rye and Imperial IPA. I just brought a bottle of their Imperial Rye IPA home from Whole Foods Roosevelt. I'm just not a fan of the things I've had. Their Imperial IPAs just don't bring home the citrus I'm partial to and they're both boozy.

I'm glad others like them and I'm happy they're winning medals. They're just not my bag, baby.

For anyone interested, Pint Defiance has a meet the brewer event scheduled with Reuben beer on 4/25/13 I believe. According to the sign in PD, the brewer will be there from 5:00 to 7:00, and they will be pouring the rye, roggenbier and the porter.
