NERAX This Week!!! Who is going?

Don't forget NERAX November, formerly NERAX North.

 

Thanks. I'll set my watch for February 2014 and start planning from there.

 

I have heard they are looking at venues on the south shore as well as metrowest, which would be cool having it in different areas every year.

 

This will be the first Wednesday night session I'll miss in like 10 years. I am going to try to make the Sat. afternoon session though. Anyone besides Jimbo and Jason remember when Wed. night was free?

 

They used to have a much smaller entrance fee in the $3-6 range and would let more people in the door at a time which lead to an uncomfortable atmosphere and standing in line type drinking you commonly see at fests these days as well as long waits at the door to get in. Charging the current rate caused less demand, allowed them to curtail the number of people in the hall and created a much more comfortable and social experience - I was originally one of the complainers about the new pricing scheme since I used to go to most of the sessions, but I think it was a good move, but now only get to one or two sessions.

 

Yes, and remember when there was a free Sunday session? Saturday used to be one long, all-day session, too, but I like it better split into two. Years ago they would have a live band on the weekends, but that no longer happens. RedBones BBQ is still served, though.

 

I remember the free Wednesday ..there were only a few casks tapped that night, iirc. Same with sat nite, there were only a few leftovers. U think it used to be (with the all-day session) that if you got there after 3 it was free entrance.
I also remember the bands - they were Friday night also. Couldn't hear yourself think. Getting rid of the band and putting in strict numbers inside were the best decisions they made - besides holding it in the first place.

 

Cool. I hope they have free wifi in the hall like they did previously.

 

It's a really fun event. You won't be disappointed.

 

Any word on whether NERAX November will be heading north again this year? I wasn't clear on whether the move was temporary or permanent. I've enjoyed NERAX in Portland, Haverhill and Somerville, but the Haverhill space was really cool. I'd love to be able to take the train up again this November. Sadly, I'm going to miss NERAX this week.

 

Does the admission cost include the glass or is that an additional $5 deposit you make?

The last two festivals, we had over 50 beers and ciders still on for Saturday evening. If you're more interested in the American casks, nearly all of them should be pouring on Saturday, many having been tapped just that morning. We also try to make sure something special gets tapped every session. I believe the Edward will be tapped Saturday, and probably the Mahrs Ungespundet.

Last I heard we haven't set dates for 2014. We have a mailing list you can subscribe to for notification of upcoming festivals.

How have the lines been this year? And if those who attend tonight wouldn't mind commenting on the lines for Friday as well.

I ask because in November I was surprised that I could just walk right in on Saturday afternoon.
