Me!Me! Me! 'twill postpone the uncorkening till Zimbo says Ready Set Go! gawd this a great beer. Gimme time to wash the proper glass, tho'. Chimay blue brings me closer to me spiritual self, much as Van Morrison does. EDIT: no cork, only have 2 small bottles that need an opener. drats. Have 1 Red, too. Is that allowed?

I'd love to participate, but I don't have any Chimay blue. How about I drink a Labatt blue and pretend it's Chimay?

I took my first sip and...I'm getting a lot of booze, light dark fruits like in raisins and perhaps plums, some yeasty notes but again, whilst that might sound inviting, the beer, imho, is bland as bland can get for the style, hell, for a beer of any style. This will be my last Blue ever.

Bill, no fair. You jumped the gun, much as my state's "Boomer Sooners" did. Tis a great beer. Try again when starting time commences. Perhaps you will re-consider.

Did you factor in Daylight Savings Time? How 'bout the Naval Observatory Atomic Clock? How 'bout digital watches v Rolex sweep hands?

No discrimination here. Be interesting to see if we notice any house style similarities .

Time is of the essence. I suggest we wait until Zimbo sez "Drank yer Chimay blue" before we actually imbibe, and subsequently comment. This would clear up a lot of haziness.

My apologies, Bill. You are correct, and I am corrected. My bad.

Works for me, not like I needed an excuse to open it, but now when my ladyfriend nags me about it, I can say it's for research!

I'd have to say no, imho. The Tripel was enjoyable as hell, as usual. The Blue is a chore to finish. I don't think even the hoppiness that I find in the Tripel...passed on the Blue, throwing it out for the style, could save it.

Btw, I had the Blue decades ago and while I don't recall how much I liked it, your post about what changed with the beer in the years since makes sense to me.

If Zimbo is planning on starting at 11pm Scotland time we could all be waiting a long time - like 3.5 hours.
