This week is going to be friggin insane.. the only sad reality is that you can't check out every single friggin brew that's coming ... it's impossible to keep up on all that's going on with the CBC in town, good problem to have. :grinning:

Should be some good leftovers too after everyone packs away

Ethan, it's not impossible to check out everything, but for me, it's not feasible. I'll target a few specific things, focusing on the stuff I have not yet had the opportunity to try.

I can grab better beers from most of those breweries around Philly, especially during Beer Week. I guess having them all at one bar is pretty great, but then again, going to ChurchKey is usually more frustration and less beer drinking.

If there was more than one place regularly scoring hard-to-get beers, it would be a lot more impressive, and a lot less frustrating trying to drink craft beer in DC. Going to ChurchKey is a lot like going to Monk's, except when I leave Monk's disappointed because it is too crowded, I have a dozen other world-class beer bars I can head to.

The list I just sent is only Churchkey's list and is but a mere sample of the events to come. There are MANY places with hard to get beers this week. Check out the schedule. For example, the FFF takeover will be duplicated at Pizza Paradiso a day later, there is a Bruery takeover at one of the other bars in the area, there is a St. Louis (Schlafly/Perennial/Urban Chestnut) takover, and a Goose Island BBBS variant tasting at MANY of the places in the area. Just do some research: http://www.dcbeer.com/dcbeercom-calendar

This is one of those weeks when DC seems so close, yet so so far away :slight_frown: hope to read some good recap threads from everyone...

Trying to argue the impressiveness of that event is futile, but it's for the craft brewers conference, it would be a bit embarrassing if it wasn't insane. I'm not sure that qualifies DC as being an unbelievable craft beer state. Now if things like this are going on all of the time, then you've got a solid argument

Here is why I consider DC a great "state" for beer: http://www.washingtoncitypaper.com/...port-regulations-made-d-c-a-craft-beer-haven/

While this list isn't quite the norm around here, it is VERY common for the tap lists to be saturated with out of the market beers.

Heh... DC is essentially the Cayman Islands of Beer.

Yeah, that's pretty excellent that bars are able to take things into their own hands and get the people what they want. I know a couple bars in my area that would love to get their hands on some Three Floyds as well countless other beers that aren't distributed to this area. Take advantage my friend

oh that's for sure, that's what I plan to do, I'll pick out a couple key days and try to drop in. I had plans to come down to CK on Monday then I realized I have to attend a friends Seder. So another time for CCB will have to come.

I'll miss some beers, but no worries, I am going to get a huge meal and food it's going to be great.

I haven't run into you guys personally (Matt, Chaney), but if I am around in one of the watering holes while you are visiting, feel free to stop by and say hi.

DC is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get.

That pretty much sums up my feelings for DC. I always love going there and having no clue about what beers I'll find on the shelves.
