My sister's best friend works at a Waffle House in Roanoke and she said that they will be partnering with Total Wine to sell waffles at their locations. Apparently this is due to the popularity of the waffles at BA beerfests. Any truth to this? I spend a lot of time in Virginia, and would be very excited to munch on some waffles while buying beer!!

If this is true, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the growler laws. This would be a way to comply with the rules.

That would make a lot of sense, actually.

Being a VA resident I know about the growlers aimed to be installed by the end of the year at VA locations, I haven't heard about waffles at all. I would ask an employee at a TW but I bet they know as much about waffles as they do about beer.

Well they can't do the growlers if they dont have hot food. As absurd as this sounds, could be true if thier serious about growlers

Does NC have the same rule? Our TWs don't have growlers either but Whole Foods does...

No, growlers may be filled only by the brewer of the beer into a properly labeled container. Once filled, they can be sold by any retailer with a beer license. You'll note our Whole Foods don't have growler stations like some othe states. They can't fill them, only (re)sell pre-filled growlers.

EDIT: Both Sam's and Triangle Wine sell pre-filled growlers but not hot food.

Good to know...now that you mention it, Tasty has growlers....I guess you just don't see it too often here.

Did you need an application to TW? As many times as I hear you go around blasting them it makes me think you must be jealous. Kinda funny how you work for a competitor and all...

Sounds like another ridiculously stupid beer law. Sometimes I close my eyes and imagine a world without bureaucrats....
