Thank God you seem to be an expert at it, as I frequently can't tell the difference myself. In my (limited) experience, one person's whining criticism is often times another person's thoughtful, constructive observation. I think you need to chime in on a lot more threads to help some of us (clearly me, for instance) out with this often subtle distinction.

I would let it go. I have always found you to be a thoughtful, frequent, and positive contributor to our forum. And, IMHO, the distinction between expressing and whining in the eye of the beholder tends to have more to do with whether or not the beholder agrees with the statements made than anything objective.

Agreed on both counts. You're absolutely right, but it always puzzles me when someone makes a comment like this, on what is obviously an opinion driven forum. I confess it always gets a bit under my skin when I see someone complaining about all the whining on a particular thread, when in reality, they just don't happen to agree with some of the comments made on the thread. I was going to suggest to deathcharms that if he disagrees with what is said by some of the posters that he interject a contrasting viewpoint or opinion, but you're right, it's probably better to just let it go.

Oh, and thanks for the compliment. Ditto yourself BuckeyeOne.

This is Murica! We gots the First Amendment, which covers the freedom of whining! There's starving kids in China who would love your freedom to whine if you're not going to finish it!

Back to the beer at hand...I'm waiting for someone to add it since I'm one of those d-bags who barely reviews anything and mostly sticks to hads.

Tried it on tap at an empty brewery. Yes it is cinnamon forward, which I definitely like in the smell and find it pleasing on top of the chocolate and licorice flavors. IMO it's like Hunahpu without the chili heat, and it has an appropriately thick and chewy mouthfeel for 11.5%. Yes it's pricey, but at least it's not Hunahpu pricey and hype-y. Ok I guess I mostly reviewed it, but still waiting on the add.

Are there really only 240 bottles? 20 cases? That surprises me as its no limit.

I asked and confirmed 20 cases. I also saw about 10 unopened cases on the floor next to the bar today, and assumed those were the remaining bottles.

When I went in today to pick up my bottles, the guy walked into the back room and brought out two cases. He didn't even touch the ones that were on the floor to the left of the bar.

Was just at the brewery. They have it on tap and several cases left.

Fair bit of chocolate, lots of licorice and molasses. Big, thick body as it should have and not quite as cinnamon forward as other reviews had led me to believe. Super sweet, too. Really lovely, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to share my bottles with a few people when I open them, as they're like a big bottle of candy.

Just goes to show everyone's palate is different. I too didn't find it that cinnamon-forward. But I didn't find it to be super sweet at all nor did I pick up licorice and molasses.

I thought it was quite roasty, with chocolate, vanilla, and cinnamon balanced throughout. The scary thing was that the 11% ABV was very well hidden.

I got cinnamon, licorice, and didn't find it that sweet. So there ya go.

I had two glasses of it (separate days). The first I don't remember particularly noticing the cinnamon. The second I thought was super cinnamon-forward. The ABV is definitely well hidden.
