Serpent's Stout: Pretty good stuff

 

Did a 2008-12 vertical recently. I am now out of 2008-2009. I presume you agree this one was on the sweet side...the one we drank in January still had amazingly solid hops, nonetheless.

This is the last one with paper labels, too.

Avril is SO good. I would take it over most anything after mowing the lawn. Except I live in a condo and don't have to mow. But it's so refreshing...

 

Glad the StL crew is still up

 

I usually get off work at 6 am so I'm always up this time!

I know I know..... But I had to try it. Not bad but the ras is much better

 

I'm slumming it with Amstel Lager.

 

Nothing right this second, but I cracked a few beers last night that I'm still mentally going over. The first was a 2004 Thomas Hardy. The second was a 2009 North Coast Old Stock Cellar Reserve, and after I got through 3/4 of each, I combined the last 1/4 from both bottles into my glass. I wept a little. I don't think a BBA Thomas Hardy was ever a "thing", but if it was, I have to imagine that this was a glimpse into what it would have been like. Angels sang.
