    Society Members!

Today, Tuesday, 4/2, at 10am PST, two beers will go on allocation for you via www.thebruerystore.com

These beers will be on sale through April 26th and will be available for pickup shortly after that. We will send an email when they are ready for you.

    Saison Tonnellerie
RS - 5 bottle limit / HS 10 bottle limit
6.7% abv, best enjoyed within 3 years.
    $13.99 (before your discount)
This beer will see extremely limited SoCal distribution.

Saison Tonnellerie is a new addition to our portfolio of Belgian-inspired saison ales and it could be argued that it is the most traditional as it was 100% fermented in oak barrels.

This sophisticated beer has picked up a rustic character akin to the original beers of the Belgian countryside that would be brewed in the colder months of the year, when fermentation temperatures were more forgiving, and served to the farm staff to keep their thirst quenched all summer long. With Spring upon us, you are just in time to stock up on this new ale for the warmer months.
    Chocolate Rain
RS - 4 bottle limit / HS 8 bottle limit
18% abv, cellarable for many years
    $39.99 (before your discount)
This beer is EXCLUSIVE to our Reserve and Hoarders Society members.

If you aren't already familiar with Chocolate Rain, it's time to get to know her, because she's about to become your best friend. Originally created as a single cask conditioned version of our Black Tuesday imperial stout for one of our release parties several years ago, Chocolate Rain has now taken on a life of her own. The base beer is a select few bourbon barrels of our imperial stout that can range anywhere from 16-21% in alcohol. Once those barrels are chosen, we spend an entire day slicing fresh vanilla beans to add to those barrels along with cacao nibs that are sourced by San Francisco based TCHO chocolatier. After a few months soaking up those rich, dessert-like flavors, the barrels are blended to taste and the result is one of the most decadent beers that we make. Rich in chocolate, vanilla, oak and bourbon, it truly puts the 'imperial' in imperial stout.

For those in RS concerned about whether the HS would drop our allocation count this year...the CR allocation of 4 represents a nice increase from last year (2 bottle limit).

The ABV dropped from 19.5% last year to 18% this year. They can spout their silly excuses about "barrel variation" and "variable attenuation" all they want, but it's clear they're simply watering down the beer to create extra volume. Such bullshit.

Seriously though, nice to see 4 bottles for the RS, definitely a good sign about the allocation numbers for the heavy hitters that everyone wants to max out on.

Any thoughts on the Saison? Have they made anything similar recently for the taproom?

I was told that they typically use the lower ABV barrels of BT for the flavored versions, in order to help keep BT itself as high as possible.

We haven't made/served anything similar recently in the Tasting Room, but I'm working on getting Society-Member-Only kegs of both Saison Tonnellerie and Chocolate Rain pretty soon .

I was being completely sarcastic. I would suspect that their barrel selections for BT and its variants isn't strictly a question of ABV, as various barrels will end up tasting like they're better suited to specific flavor additions, but I wouldn't be surprised if ABV comes into play as a tertiary factor.

Chocolate Rain is higher ABV than BT.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question or has been answered elsewhere, but the email says they'll be a available until 4/26. There's no chance they'll 'sell out' prior to that date, right? I may need to wait a couple weeks before I can purchase.

i am in this boat as well. bad timing with a couple other big expenses hitting at the same time. if they say you can buy up to that date, im rolling with the assumption that my bottles are reserved for purchase until that date

Yes you can order any time up until the 26th without fear of them selling out.

This is my first year in the RS as well. Does that one included become available when the allocations are, or is there another set that will be out at some point like the initiation package where you get 3 things together as sort of a quarterly offering?

Already bought my 4, no sense in holding off if I know I am going to be spending on them anyways and risk being late.

We apply appropriate bottle limits per allocation that ensure each member will have guaranteed access to the beer during the sales-window. You will be safe waiting a few weeks to purchase if that's more comfortable financially.

(Before I'm corrected, I will say... the exception was Griffon, which was a one-time issue of not having enough beer to go around.)

The included bottles become available at the same time as the purchased bottles.
