Gotta give some love to New Glarus Black Top IPA. Pretty difficult to find a Black IPA better for the price.

Had a Buxton Imperial Black IPA last night. Absolutely jizztastic.

That's just what the IPAs want you to think, don't be fooled by their trickery!

*Read this in a Fry voice, it sounds better that way*

That's exactly how I felt as well until I ran into a few I really enjoyed like Victory Yakima Glory and Heavy Seas Black Cannon. I think the style is a less forgiving style because the flavors typically will clash if there is too much of the same thing going on: bitter and bitter. If not done correctly you will have a mess on your hands!

This is one style I really struggle with. Haven't had anything that I've really enjoyed yet.

New Glarus Black Top has been the best example I've tried so far. But I haven't tried that many so take that with a grain of salt.

I really dig Yakima Glory. But then again, I find most Victory beers to be solid.

A lot of you are mentioning Stone's Sublimely, which is ok, but I was blown away by their 15th anniversary black IPA Ecsondidian. I wish they'd bring that one back!

It won a gold medal at the 2012 GABF so I don't know about underrated, but it definitely is fan-freakin'-tastic :grinning:

You haven't had Lake Front IBA yet? Also Karben 4 makes a mean BIPA "Silk Scorpion."

I like Black IPA'S but I rarely go for them as I am not usually in the mood for both dark roasty malts and hops. However I am always in the mood for Dubhe and Wookey Jack. Dubhe I think it is underrated, one of my favorites and Wookey Jack is just plain tasty.
