Thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings, so I have stumbled upon a few beers wondering if they are are worth picking up to try to and trade which are as follows: - Bruery: oude tart - nogne / Terrapin: imperial rye porter - nogne / bridge road: India saison (not sure if this would be good still) - lost abbey: red poppy & angels share Thanks for reading
Pick them up and drink them? All look like they'd go $4$ for off shelf locals though. Red Poppy and Angel's Share are shelf beers here. Ditto with Oude Tart. Never seen the other 2.
Did you find these on the shelf? Then they will trade for other shelf beers. Did you have to wait in line at a brewery-only release for these? Then they will trade for other brewery-only releases. Did you have to be on a "waiting list" to buy these from a store? Then they will trade for other beers you had to be on a "list" to get. Did you find these overseas? And they are only available overseas? Then they will trade for other overseas only beers. Did the beer you find not fit in any of the above categories? Then check the ISO forums or post a thread asking about info for the beer. Figure out what category it belongs in, rinse, and repeat. Not trying to single the OP out but does everyone see a pattern here? Its not that hard to figure out.
Agreed for the most part but it seems that it doesn't always work that way. There seem to be plenty of self/waiting list beers that trade for higher.
Some people will deride or make fun of you for buying beer with the intention of trading it, even though this forum was designed specifically to talk about trading beers you've bought for beers that other people bought. They'll also indicate that they hate these threads. They'll do so by making a comment about the thread and how stupid it is, which bumps the thread up to the top to ensure more views and comments. Then, they'll check back later to see how the thread is progressing, how many likes they've netted in the hated, dastardly thread, and perhaps make some more comments that keep the thread going farther even still.
Well exactly what I thought the trading thread was all about. And aren't beers always bought first before trading... I know lots of people who find stuff and buy an extra of it to trade. And being in nj not everyday you see red poppy or oude tart sitting around. But saying brewery only release trade for other brewery only isn't always true cause I've traded non brewery only for brewery only so that whole lecture I don't think is 100% accurate at all. Thanks for support!
If you can buy a beer randomly off the shelf to trade, then 99 times out of 100 it will trade for exactly the dollar value you paid for it, assuming there is someone out there who wants it. I have no shame in admitting I've bought beers specifically to trade or extra them, but am never under the illusion they are "worth" any more than what I paid for them.
Check seekabrew. If it doesn't get distributed to a potential trading partner's area and you bought it off the shelf, it's probably a decent extra.
I know about seekabrew and $4$ and all I qas questioning cause I've never seen these beers often well at all in my locals in nj
I think these specific beers see wide enough distro that you will just have to find someone who cant find it atm. They are good beers but I think what ppl are saying is that off the shelf stuff is more commonly traded in a "ft:nj locals iso:fff locals" where ypu buy the beer after you know what they want. What you listed is fine tasting but if someone can try it at there local bar they don't want to pay the shipping cost to get a bottle
To answer your question, nothing on that list is even remotely rare, and will trade for simple locals to markets that don't get those breweries.
Tom, Oude Tart is a widely distributed, and tasty, shelf beer. Poppy is a little "rarer" and might have a little bit more trade value.
