I did not. This was actually my first agreed upon trade on BA. I looked at his home page on the old format and saw a list of 15 or so traders, I thought he looked legit. I did not even think of messaging some of these people, shame on me....

well, I'm sorry for the delay. Forum implosion + being a trustee for four people really delayed matters. Either way. A package went out. Not sure why it was damaged. A lot of the stuff was time/freshness sensitive, once it comes back i'll figure out what can be salvaged and what needs new bottles. You'll still get fresh hoppy beer.

but hey, beer karma getting my ass or some shit...

Sounds like you suck as a trustee, much less a trading partner. Get your shit together.

Soo... then this is just a roast/witch hunt. Sounds good. Unload your anger towards me even though I've done nothing to you all you want.

You claim forum implosion as a defense. Fair enough. The forum has been back up for a good amount of time now, and you have more than one person calling you a deadbeat. Use whatever circumstance you'd like, but you stink of bad trader to me.

well, berating the dude isn't gonna help much. i'm pretty sure he knows what he's doing wrong. hopefully he can get the rest of the packages out on time and right the broken box.

Thanks John. I haven't had communications with Woodchopper in a very long time. In fact, till that post I didn't even realize that was still an open issue. I sent off a message about it to get it resolved. But hey, keep berating me and I'm sure that'll encourage me to totally "fix my shit" and not just say "fuck it, whatever."

As for "sucky trustee", go fuck yourself. I'm in communication with them and considering the amounts of allocations coming out, it's sort of difficult to fit it all into one box. Especially when the majority of them figure that I should cover shipping in advance.... I know the one guy who sends me the fedex shipping return address form gets his promptly.

And hey, if I'm too slow for them, slow enough that they would complain to someone other than me about it, then I have no problem not being their trustee any longer and let them find a new trustee. Believe me, it's no sweat off my back to not have to carry and be responsible for so many allocations. The last trip had me pick up 8 cases in one trip... Allocations are huge. But whatever man.

I already stated I was glad to right the broken box. I put them in styrofoam shippers thinking they were a safe bet as I haven't had any busted bottles via that method. But hey, berate me some more due to some shipping accident which happened across the country away from me and could very well be entirely out of my control.

As for delays. When it's for stuff that isn't year round, what would you have me do? I told him with Citra coming out at the end of the month I would hook him up. Come citra release I got some - but hey "I hope you got me a case of citra to make up for the time" seems like such a thing to say, right...

I shipped out after that weekend and by all intent that was suppose to be there last week. On the day it's suppose to be delivered Fedex reports it busted and being in the process of being returned.. As of yesterday the package is still in PA and it looks like it's suppose to be delivered on the 6th, but it doesn't show a destination other than PA. So your guess is as good as mine.

there was a delay and yeah, that was my bad, but please "get your shit together" seems a bit harsh and if I stink of bad trader to you, then don't trade with me. No reason to berate me in such a fashion.

I haven't set up anything new since becoming a trustee for a couple of people anyway. What with the forum implosion, it's all been a matter of making sure any old trade got wrapped up. If you see me jumping around trying to score some trades, then you would have more of a reason to assume I'm just out to fuck over people or something. But considering I'm not doing that and trying to correct these loose ends, how about some benefit of the doubt.

Oh great, I'm sure there's another harsh comment going to come from me saying that...:astonished:

Now that we have both sides of the story, we could let them follow through with their trades and mind our own! If he is a bad trader then we'll here about it again at some point. If not then life goes on...

^Well, it seems our case was that package was received but a busted bottle, which was addressed and I passed it along to get shipped out but seems to never actually got there. And with no follow up on either side it sort of got lost in time.

But it does beg a good question that outside observers could chime in on. If a bottle breaks in a package, that one is clearly in need of replacing, but if said broken bottle's contents leaks onto the other bottle... but does not break or damage the beer inside of bottle B other than leaving it completely dirty residue from beer... is unbroken bottle B also in need of replacement?

If it's just dirty then I don't think I would have a problem with that especially knowing what happened. If it was a beer I had available though I would drink the dirty one and put in a nice one in it's place.

Regardless of the circumstances it still seems like you stretched yourself entirely too thin. I'd hope you get everything figured out and find new trading partners because from all that I've heard and seeing you tell people to go fuck themselves I'd think a lot of people would be turned off by you at this point. Good luck

I was telling the person who I haven't traded with, but felt the need to berate me even after I stated I'm more than happy to right the broken package, to go fuck himself. And to be honest, with how the bruery is cranking out allocations, my fedex account is getting gutted on just sending those out.

So it's not really the best to hear that people berate me for doing the best I can on those when they don't know the circumstances. Hell, in one instance I went to pick up a chocolate rain allocation early. The RS member, without talking to me about it, changes it so that their friend would pick it up. It led to a situation where I picked up the order and a few days later their friend also picked up the same order and caused only headaches in that now the dude's account is on hold till one goes back... which I have tried to take back at once already to all sorts of confusion.. But you see, I'm feeling no love on my part. I haven't been paid back for at least 3 packages I got out... yeah. /rant

So I got no time for trading, which is probably why I haven't been on the boards like I was in the old format. Not used to the lay out and certainly not up to speed to even check out the beer trade area.

So hey, maybe worrying about future beer partners down the line isn't on the top of the menu.. and if I do ever get "my shit together", it's a simple matter of sending first, which I would have no problem in doing. But hey, whatever. pile it on some more, will you.

The solution to this is having the RS members that you trustee for send you their fedex account number. All the packages I have sent I use the "bill recipient" selection and their account number.
I avoid exchanging money at all possibilities because it usually ruins friendships.

This is the correct answer. Bduble picks up my allocations. I would NEVER expect him to pay for shipping. Everything runs smooth and my account is billed.

Exactly what Bduble said. Plus those nice 12 bottle shippers your trustees are sending you are for their beer to be sent back in, not to send out for a different trade (unless I didn't understand what you said). Also, when packing the 12 bottle styro shippers, don't just put the bottles in there, make sure you pad the edges and bottom of the bottle so it fits snug.

Having multiple trustees can be difficult (I know, I trustee for a good amount of people, I also do proxies for limited release and shelf beers), but keeping on top of communication is key, they are putting a lot of trust in you. If you are getting overwhelmed let them know and they can find someone else.

I really like the cardboard shippers too, however I did just have a bottle break when i sent it out. My mind was blown when the guy asked why i didn't use the shipper he sent. Turns out a bottle broke and the FedEx guy "re-packed" them in another box. He did a shitty job but better than them getting "destroyed". I am guessing he majorly f*ed up and felt guilty, because that box was secure as can be, luckily just a Victory @ Sea was lost.

I feel the bottles are more secure in the thick cardboard shippers but the package is more secure with the styro. Getting the bottles properly secure in the styro-shippers does require more attention and work. I also dislike the lay flat cardboard shippers. They never seem 100% secure, and with 12 Bruery bottles the box seems a little tight.

yea, i still have to wrap them quite tightly in bubble wrap when using the upright cardboard shippers to make sure they don't move in transit.

Thanks for the advice. When I picked up/offered the trustee service I put it out there that they pay for shipping. While two of them picked up the ball and send me the box and return address slip, which makes it extremely easy on my end (and those get their bottles pretty fast), the ones where it's pretty vague have been.. well, it's one of those "I'll ship when I can afford to have $40x3 floating in limbo", because it is eating into my pocket to do the favor of all this.

So again, I don't much appreciate the whole "get your shit together you shitty trustee" mentality when I'm clearly in a moment of overwhelming circumstances. I did show that even while extremely dropping the ball on lateness on this one, that a package went out. Why it got damaged.. well, that's just a shit situation right there and I'll fix it. But it's one of those things that I have to wait for it to get back.. or get there as the tracking is showing strangeness about.

I do typically pad out the styro shippers with whatever old newspaper so they're not bouncing around in there. So again, was a shocked since this is the first stryofoam box that got busted. Woodchopper's box from last year was a plain USPS priority flat rate box (yeah, I know.. again, moved on from that long ago)

So I guess it's just a matter of correcting it and moving on.

"unless I didn't understand what you said"
No, I use the foams for the trustee that sent them, but one sent me waaay more and told me to just have them handy for whatever use as I was sending them random other goodies from around SoCal. So I came into a surplus of stryofoam shippers.
