A couple things I would like to point out. Production did increase some, we know that. This year they had around 800 cases released at the tap room. Founders' distribution footprint may be getting larger but from what I gather not necessarily are these new markets receiving all of the specially beers.

There is one variable that is being ignored for whatever reason within some people's logic. The demand for this beer is increasing at a greater rate rate than production. Check this out-In 2011, there were roughly 300-350 people waiting for KBS around 9 AM outside the tap room. In 2012 there were around a 1000 by 6 AM. This year probably around at least 4000 people tried for tickets. There are also many people who have never had KBS and are seeking it out this year due to word of mouth.

I don't know much about allocations being cut back although I have always been told that founders gives mores specialty products to those who sell the most. Perhaps with the Michigan economy people are just not buying enough of their beers at these shops. I am a strong believer that as soon as the bubble bursts these beers are going to be available once again.

What does this even mean? We aren't getting bottles of 2013 KBS at all. We aren't even getting bottles of Founders until May. All we have heard points to extremely limited amounts of kegs to be distributed to Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio, Houston... not exactly small towns. So, again, if the 75-100 gallons of draft-only KBS that Texas is getting is somehow ruining the Michigan market, I apologize.

I'd still like someone to chime in to inform of how easy/hard it is to track down some KBS on draft in Michigan. If all you really care about is supporting a local brewer and drinking great beer, it seems like draft is just as good as bottles. But maybe I'm missing something?

Edit: not trying to ruffle feathers here, I'm just surprised about the disconnect between what Michiganders think Texas is getting compared to what we know we are getting. Of course, if it turns out that you're all correct and I can fulfill my daily bathing duties in KBS, I'll happily eat my words.

Triple the production next year will suffice for double the demand and increased distribution.
Dont get your hopes up, just expect the worst this way you can only be pleasantly surprised.

They're taking care of their home market just fine. KBS is currently on tap, unannounced, for mug club day.

A local store that got 3 cases last year got 5 cases this year. Granted, the beer buyer fights tooth and nail for as much as she can get, but she did get a bit more. Not 3x more, though.

So you are upset at them for trying to obtain the "American Dream" and growing? You think they should stay content with no growth and stagnant earnings? We live in the US bro. If this is what you are looking for then go hang out with the monks in Belgium. Don;t mean to sound harsh but they are producing beer, not heart valves that they are then shipping to China.

    Nice straw man bro.

I think most midwesterners would just rather have Founders allocate more of their limited offerings to the Great Lakes area, particularly in Michigan instead of pushing into other markets without even being able to keep up with demand in the markets they're already in. They could have tripled the allocation in Michigan and it would have sold.

I don't care either way, plenty of barrel aged alternatives nowadays. It's not the end of the world if I don't get any KBS.

    One thing is for certain....

Production of Founders hate threads on BA has definitely increased at least 3x since last year's KBS release.

WTF, you guys get Epic? My cousin lives a few blocks from the brewery and grabbed me two bottles when he came back for Christmas and I was blown away. Amazing beer.

I'm pretty certain they also bottled FBS as KBS. Where the heck is any of the barrel in this years vintage?

Also re: expanded production, they must have also tripled their accounts. Places that got a case of KBS last year got ZERO this time around

The bourbon barrel is kicking me in the face from the time I open the bottle cap all the way to the final sip. It's definitely there for me. If I had a complaint about this beer, its that I don't get as much coffee as I usually expect
