I liked the fresh one better*, so I'll be drinking as much '13 KBS as I can get, sooner rather than later.
*IMO Note: if you care to know why I prefer a fresh KBS over a year old KBS...
I found the year old KBS to taste kind of burnt/harsh with noticable but less pronounced bourbon, chocolate and coffee flavors.
The fresh KBS was more bourbon forward with the chocolate and coffee flavors blending in nicely without any harshness.
    CHEERS!

Haha, yeah, I struggled with this today. I got these tiny little snifters at Goodwill/Savers and they've worked well for this sort of thing. Only problem is I only bought two of each style, as I didn't think about me doing this myself. I think this method worked fairly well, though. Even a set of shot glasses would work pretty well for this method, though, the shape of the glass might not be ideal.

Like I said, I marked all of them, poured them, but the bottles in the fridge, shell gamed them, came back and shell gamed them again, then walked up to the table while not looking at them and tasted them with my eyes close. You'd have to already know the beers pretty well to beat that method.

A dip into the cellar during KBS season never hurts, held up much better than expected. Cheers everyone!

what the heck is up with all the bourbon county tonight?

I was in a less boozy and more dessert-y mood.... procured a southern tier chokolat. I think that's another underappreciated brew. Super delicious and well balanced.

Nice. Which year is this? I had part of a 2007 bottle a little while back and thought it was pretty tasty. Have an original bottling, 2006, tucked away but want to do it side-by-side with a fresh bottle.

Moving onto this. Nothing mind blowing but a very solid, drinkable brew.
