Thinks Bell's is Vastly Overrated?

My god the armchair police are out in full force today. Is it a tad bit obnoxious that the OP chose to create a thread expressing his personal dislike for Bell's and saying they may be overrated? Yes, but this is also America where we are guaranteed that right so for all the butthurt Bell's fanboys that are trying to rip the OP's throat out, please calm the hell down, it's just an opinion. For the record, I think Bell's is rated exactly where they should be. I love Two Hearted and Hopslam but I have also been underwhelmed by some of their beers. No big deal, you drink what you like and move on. I think we can shut this one down already, it's just breeding fanboy animosity.

 

Moderation is just a nicer word for censorship and its never a good thing all it does is stop discussion competition and progress China is the best example in the world they used to be much stricter than they are now and look at how much better their country is doing still not great sure people wont always agree but what makes your opinion any more valuable than someone elses On top of that many people decided to give their opinion on the topic even you did.

Also have to say I completely disagree with the part about being just as excited about one release as another we all have our fav beers

 

I would not be so quick to defend someone who was desiring this exact reaction. This isn't the OPs first clam bake, his resume runs deep with experience in inciting a forum shit show.

I agree that this OP has had a bit of a history of trolling but his original point about Bell's shouldn't be dismissed just because of that. I will definitely say that the Michigan contingent of BA overhyped the everloving shit out of Bell's. It is a good brewery but its not the best there is just because its a Michigan brewery. Just like I don't believe that Illinois is the "beer promised land" as one Michigan BA said above about MI, just because I really like my state's beer. Lets all just relax and have a good time, is that too hard to ask? Too many uptight folks on BA for a Saturday morning.

 

No one is taking away the OPs freedom, that is an awful argument. The OP posted an opinion, people disagreed. The OP was intentionally stirring the pot, this is what happens.

 

Bell's is awesome. All beers are super solid and they've been doing this longer than most other microbreweries out there. Solsun and Amber got me hooked way back. Awesome brewpub with amazing events and releases there. Not to mention they usually have a few unique/rarer beers on tap at all times unlike some other MI breweries. I actually think they are getting even better with the latest BA 9000 and Black Note

You people are ALL Hop King. No beer is good enough. If it's not barrel-aged, or vanilla soaked, or unobtainable, it's not good. Sierra Pale is bland, Great Lakes Dortmunder is tasteless, Sam Adams Boston Lager is boring. The pendulum has swung so far towards sour triple IPAs aged on plutonium that nothing can satisfy. Craft beer has been touted as the "affordable luxury" that anyone can go out and buy for ten bucks, instead of the province of the rich, who buy three-figure vintages of Cabernet, and what has that gotten us? Assholes who treat great beer like assholes treat rare wine, expecting a pour of their libation to be like an acid-fueled trip to Disneyland. Your first taste of Pliny was a revelation, but now that your eyes are open and you can bop down to the Quickie Mart to get a sixer, it's not enough. You need more. You need it now. And God help the local brewery that makes a great pale ale and a great helles but doesn't make a sour, because they'll always trail behind the next start up making a killer homebrew while they try to raise money to lease a warehouse.

Hop_King makes a thread bashing Two Hearted and it immediately gets a shitload of derision, but not because he's wrong. He is wrong, but he's hated because he's all of you, stripped of the pretension and bullshit and notes of black currant, shoved naked in front of the mirror.

Dude wanted to stir up some shit, shits been stirred. Although I do agree with the 2H sentiment (sorry?) You don't start a post bashing a very well known very loved brewery. Oh and hopslam is the shit!!! Way better than zombie dust IMO, knock a beer if you want, but you just kind of gave the middle finger to all of Michigan, bad form.

Just to start, I am not sure everyone will take too kindly to being called a fluffer. That could stir something up.

 

Bell's ratings aren't really even all that over the top. They probably have more beers with an average under 4 than over..

 

Overrated doesn't mean it's bad, it means it's rated more highly than it should be. BA's tends to take perfectly good beer or brewerys then give them an over blown status. Then later some people have some of the beer aren't as impressed and then claim they are overrated.

Edit: I actually love Bell's and craft beer could care less if people think its overrated or underrated I just like beer plain and simple.
