Just released. If you are a fan of all things Citra you will love this beer. One of the greatest nose's of any beer you will ever smell, huge citrus fruits, mango and melons. Perfect balance and though it checks in at 99 IBU's its actually an amazing sessionable 7.1% abv. Julian knocks another out of the park. I missed the last batch being on the east coast when it dropped so I have nothing to compare it to as far as batch consistency other than it's simply a perfectly made world class Citra IPA.

    Cheers.....

LOL...somewhere, Ding's spidey sense is tingling.

Jokes about sessionable ABV aside, I loved the last batch and look forward to kegs of this making their way down to San Diego. Julian is killing it with good beer after good beer.

OP, why do you relate IBUs with ABV as criteria for a sessionable beer?

I am not a home brewer or anything like that so excuse me for the lack of beer geek tech talk but when I see beers with very high IBU's they are often to boozy for me and therefore something I couldn't drink a few of in a session, I use Simtra as an example, I know its not an absolute but for me when I see really high IBU's it's often a syrupy sweet boozy mess of a beer. My point is that this is a very drinkable IPA that is up there on the IBU scale.

    Cheers.....

I think you mean ABV. IBU's will not make the beer boozy or syrupy sweet.

From my experience beers with really elevated IBU are often boozy messes. I get your point so lets focus on the real intention of my post, and that was to share an amazing drinking experience with the community, there are obviously a ton of home brewers on this site and as i said I am not. Enjoy the beer.

    Cheers.....

I agree that Citraholic is great. I'll be in LB tonight and may have to grab a pint/growler.

It depends on the beer. Citraholic is right around $18 and worth every penny !

BW's Citraholic is one helluva great tasting beer. I had Julian's first batch of Citraholic and it was amazing. It did run out quick but not as quick as the Amalgamator. I've had both batches of the Amalgamator and now looking forward to the newest batch of Citraholic. The two I would have to put up there as my favorite BW's release. It would be nice to compare the two. I will be in tomorrow first thing for the Thrillseeker bottle release and fill my growler with Citraholic to compare with my last growler of Amalgamator (filled 2 weeks ago). Julian's BW brewing beers is def world class. Even though most of the country has not had any or much of his beers, its by word of mouth that has a lot talking about it. Though they have just started to bottle only special releases/beers you have to visit BW LB or SB to get a taste of what BW's beers are about. Or able to visit the couple dozen places that carries BW's brews. And all are in California. So for those lucky enough to be in California or live close to Long Beach or Seal Beach are lucky to be able to stop in and enjoy some world class beers anytime.
I can see beer lovers from San Francisco or San Diego saying "what would class beer from BW?" They have their own beers in their backyard that they can claim as world class. Example ABC or KRBC, etc. There are a lot of beer drinkers who has never had a Duet, Pure Hoppiness, Citra DIPA or any of the beers from ABC or KRBC because it's so hard to obtain here in SoCal. Likewise for the peeps that live outside of LA/OC area. You cant buy bottles from BW. You have to go to the two locations or find a place nearby that has their beers on tap. It would be nice to see more of their beers being released in bottles.

Sorry for getting off subject. Citraholic rocks!!

I was at the LB location last Thursday and went through pint after pint. It's seriously the tits. I am going to do growler fills to send out to my midwest trading partners. This should be their next bottling...
