i've been a member of the Preservation Society for 2 quarters now.

so far both times i've driven out there to pick up my beer (which seems like a straightforward transaction) it's been a debacle. the first time, i go to front, tell the guy i'm there to pick my beer. then he tells me, "oh you don't pick it up here you pick up beer over there" points to a table where no one is sitting. ok. so i walk over there and stand there. i stood there for about 10 minutes, while the same, and only guy is still there, at the bar, with no customers, not helping me.

finally after 15 min or so and me glaring at him he finally comes over and helps me. i give him my name and it turns out someone had crossed it off (maybe somehow used my name? i don't know).. i'm like, "I just drove here from LA to pick up my beer".. after going back and forth a bunch of times he finally brings me my beer.

this past weekend I went to pick up my order. same thing. go to that table we don't help you here. at least there was a guy at the table this time. i gave him my id. he says it's going to be a wait because there are a few orders before mine. fine. so i got a beer and chilled out near his station. but meanwhile i have no idea what this guy could be doing. he's just on a computer staring at a screen. what he's not doing is bringing out beer to anyone.

i just don't understand why picking up pre-ordered packages is rocket science for them. really wish they'd streamline their system somehow. i like their beers but i'm on the verge of canceling purely based on how they treat customers

    /whine bitch wahhhhh i'm a cry baby

I wish the Bruery would step up their brewing. Bad beer at an insanely high price is wrong in every possible way.

are second quarter allocations already available for pickup? I just picked up my first quarter allocation pick up last week and was in and out within minutes. Excellent service in my opinion the many times I've been there for pick ups or events.

Do you send them an email a day prior letting them know that you'll be picking up your allocation?

It's in a pre-packaged box that can be handed over within seconds after signing for it. I think that an email to them are for larger Reserve Society allocation pick ups.

Did you just try to pickup your first quarter allocations twice? The second quarter won't be available to pickup till July 1st.

no, went to pick up this quarters (the above photo)..

i guess i wasn't "Preservation" last year. something else. i got the 2 bottles of Black Tuesday

so, i still have the same question.. why does it take 25 minutes to get my beer i've already paid for? during these pick-up seasons shouldn't they just have a shitload of the packages out, ready to go? maybe more than 1 dude working the line?

I too have been disappointed with the last couple of pickups/visits.

It seems emailing/phoning in advance means nothing, because every time, despite giving them advance notice, they still have to take 15 minutes to pack it up. That's on top of waiting 15 minutes in line while they packed up the guy in front of me's beer, who also emailed in advance.

Then, they act flustered when you want to check the bottles before you sign for them, despite the admonition to do that very thing.

Every time, and I mean every time the last 18 months or so, they short me bottles. Never extra or the correct amount, always short. And its always the real high demand beers that I'm shorted:

Sour in the Rye, Chocolate Rain, Black Tuesday, Filmishmish etc. . .

I'm picking up this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes this time.

I truly believe that PMR and everyone at the top of the Bruery want the best customer service, they've shown it to me in the past. For whatever reason, coincidence or whatnot, things just haven't been moving in a good direction for them lately. I do think they really mean well and try to deal with you.

My suggestion: They need more staff at the tasting room. Always understaffed.

I was shorted 2 out of 4 pickups last year. (None was a particularly rare beer, fortunately. But I chuckle at the fact that the bank error was never in my favor.)

When I went for my last pickup about a month ago, they made sure to show me each bottle, one by one, and the corresponding receipt for the bottle. I don't know if that's a function of who is checking you out, or a new policy this year based on complaints from last year. But I was happy they did it.

I've only ever had one error and it went in my favor. I guess they love me or something.

never had an error or a terror luckily. What I can tell you is the time of day and day of week can either work in your favor or completely opposite.

Out of curiosity, why did you go to the beer ordering line the second time if you knew it wasn't where you picked up bottles?

I made the same mistake you did the first time. I would agree that a sign or a little more organized format for that corner desk of the bar would work for everyone involved.... but I have found that if you give them a heads up, show up expecting to wait a few minutes (have a beer), and shoot the shit with them for a couple minutes, everything will work out just fine. Oh by the way, if you have the ability to show up at a non-rush hour time of the day, you should be in and out pretty quickly. They stamped my print out, so maybe bring a document as proof that your name shouldn't already be crossed off.... Unless you were trying to pull a sneaky no telly with your two quarters of Pres. society allocations... kidding, I saw your above post.

I'm a trustee for buddy in the midwest. I went to pick up his bottles and stated whom I was picking up for. I saw my name on their list but they never asked me for ID to compare against their records. Hmm, anyone could've made that pickup.

They are a young company technically... I would bet that within a year or two a few customer facing regulations and standards are put in place. The customer and company interaction is still pretty "mom and pop" and one on one, which is awesome. But as companies grow, so do their procedures. The worst part, as soon as those changes are made to make the process better, there will be a post on here full of people bitching about how annoying it was they had to prove who they were every time, and how long the process took haha.

I've also been shorted twice on pickups. Pretty disappointing to spend that much $$ and then not get what you paid for.

Any other customer service issues are pretty minor and not that important to me, but getting shorted on bottles is a serious problem.

I've always emailed them a week in advance of coming in as well and the problems persist.
