Coming from Chicago to San D for a few days. What are the best place(s) to pick up the local fineries to take back with me? Lookiing at the big stouts and barleywines as well as IPAs. Speedway, Nelson, Numbskull, etc.

    Thanks for the help.

Couple of bottleshops you could check out depending on area you'll be in...

Best Damn Beer Shop (downtown area)
    Bottlecraft (little italy area)
Clem's Bottle House (Adams/North Park area)

    Hope this helps. Good luck.

Don't waste your time at clem's, BDBS and Bottlecraft will have everything you need/want without jacking up prices

Nine & Vine on Adams ave. Worth checking out.

another place to check out is Olive Tree Market in Ocean Beach. They also have a tasting room open in the evenings Th-Sat. When you buy any sample you get 10% off your entire beer/wine purchase.

Also near OTM is Pizza Port Ocean Beach (winner of small brewpub of the year at GABF), they have about 12 of their own beers plus another 2 dozen+ guest taps and there is Newport Pizza, great tap list and vibe, right next to the Ocean.

Thanks everyone. Any places to meet up to swap beers out there? I was thinking of filling my suitcase with midwest's best from my garage -- Three Floyds, Founders, Bells, New Glarus

I would add Liticker's Liquor in Ocean Beach. Not to mention they have an amazing taco shop right in the store.

They look great. Although their beer list looks exactly the same as the Best damn Beer Store. Same owners maybe?

honestly if you are in OB I would stick to Olive tree market. They are way more knowledgeable and careful about keeping stuff fresh (if you have any questions ask for Mike). Litickers's may have some things left that other places have sold out of, but be careful of old inventory and beers not treated properly.

Pro tip: Don't refer to San Diego as San D when you are actually here. Or the Diego. Or anything shorthand.

San Diego it is, in its original German form.

    Beverages 4 Less in Santee.

I've purchased CBS, KBS, Hopslam, 120, WWS, and others you won't find anywhere else in SD>

Bev-4-ripoff sucks. Guy illegally resells beer, is a general jerk to the breweries and if you like warm stored IPA's shipped out to you, he's your man. Santee is also out in BFE and there are many other bottle shops before you get way the hell out east. #avoid

Nobody is from here (except Stawn), so nobody cares what you call Man Diego. It's not like San Francisco where they get all butthurt if you call it San Fran or Frisco.
