KBS sightings in CT!!!

For the record Ancona's is open running generators at (what I am sure are) exorbitant costs, giving out free water from their hose, providing coffee (for free) and helping the community during all of these recent storms where we've been without power for a week on end. So stop being a jerk over the price of one bottle of beer.

Despite being a "good" craft beer store and 100% my go to store since I live in Ridgefield, Ancona's is not a great beer store and more often than not gets skipped on rare releases. It certainly does not get the love that Amity or 99 Bottles gets from distributors. They miss them just as often as they get them and I definitely find it helps to tell them that they are coming so they can reach out to their distributors. Just as two examples, they didn't get Enjoy By or Premeditated for two very recent examples but I can site many, many others over the years. Given that fact, I can understand Mitch's "excuse" for pricing the beer. He, honestly, doesn't have experience in pricing these things all that often. I'm more than willing to take him at his word. I willing went in and spent the money on a bottle for convenience. If you don't like this price, then don't buy this beer from him (past tense now since I believe it's sold out). And at the end of the day, he priced it where he priced and he sold out so good for him.

 

I have stopped going there myself.....price gougers to the fullest.Tools.
I'm sure your talking about the store by BOB'S.Almost everything in there is 1-2 bucks more than the competition.Nevermind the KBS gouge.........

Fairgrounds and many other Danbury stores didn't get those beers either. He did however get many other limited beers in the past, so it's not exactly a sobfest for Mitch either, and he does have some experience doing it.

I do agree with you though, they are good to their community in general.

Some asshole pretended to be me and got my 4-pack today (which the store was holding for me). Of course it was the last one they had (from what I was told he pointed to the beer behind the counter and said it was for him). Does this constitute no longer shopping there or at least shopping less there? I could be over reacting right now but I'm really pissed about it.

 

Or an employee kept it and made up a backstory.

 

I'd agree with him on the fact that its nothing special. It's a good beer but take a look at BCBS, which is at number 17. Absolute shit show the first week or two that it hit CT and price gouging was rampant. Now, its still on shelves...even at MSRP. KBS is not worthy of massive mark ups and single bottle count limits...its Founders, they kind of made a lot of it.

I've purchased it in MA in 2011 and 2012, and to be honest CT has it way easier.

Possibly but the shift manager said that she saw it there about an hour before I came in for it. She obviously isn't a beer person because she said that she didn't think someone would do that just for beer and gave a little chuckle. That just pissed me off a little more.

I am not going to argue with you man. I'm on this site to learn more about beer and to share my info with others. I could care less how you buy your beer and where you buy it from. Thanks for the nice chat.

I think any of us that have met Mitch know that he is a good guy. It was a messup that happened the first time they got a new and rare beer in. I personally think they'll be cognisant of the situation moving forward.
I think the public apology was a nice touch as well. Not everyone is perfect all of the time, and I believe he and his staff have learned from this, so I have no problems going back.

 

I actually think he would be a good addition / participant in the forums on a regular basis.

 

Liquor Depot in Simbury still has 3 bottles on the back shelf at 5.25 each in case anyone in the area is still looking. Was there around 3pm.

 

I just paid 7.99 x4 at Warehouse in Monroe, but it was the last they had.

 

swung by this morning, and was too late.

 

Groton area has been depleted.. my friend grabbed 12 in total between 2 stores
