Gorch Fock is an even better Helles Lager and it is amazing. Made me miss drinking lagers after being surrounded by so much BA Stout and DIPA hype.

I have always thought they were in Indiana for tax purposes only. Their pub is literally the 1st exit off of 80 once you enter Indiana. I'm sure the taxes are ridiculously cheaper than Chicago and they are less than an hour from the city.

They don't call it the "Crossroads of America" because people like to stop there and visit....

I agree. I've always look at them as an Indiana brewery. They've had 2 locations since '96 and neither were in Illinois. But the Chicago connection is there because FFF does brew for the people in that greater area. There's always been rumors of a FFF brewpub in Chicago which makes complete sense and would be a slam dunk for them.

I can go on a long rant that no one will read but ultimately it's comes down to this: I'm loyal to FFF and don't really care about Founders. You are loyal to Founders and don't really care about FFF. We will never see eye to eye.

    $$$

    Taxes, property, you name it.
Everything is incredibly cheaper in Indiana.

Where does FFF ever sit long enough to need a date?

If you see a Munsterfest bomber on the shelf in June, it's safe to say it ain't fresh.

I always laugh when I here people say they should move to Chicago. Do you realize how much it would cost to relocate to Chicago? I can see them opening another facility, but why would they move?

After reading another one of these threads, I'm thinking I'm tired of the great lakes BA forum?

When I see Dreadnaught or APW bombers on the shelf and I'm never sure if it's the same one I saw on that shelf a month ago. And this happens a lot here in WI. I've been burned by too many old FFF bombers, mainly the DIPAs that I've since only gotten them on carry out from the brewpub.

I don't think expanded distribution is Founders' problem. I think some of their brews are just lacking, plain and simple. Especially the IPAs. What they've done extremely well is stuff like FBS and KBS (I haven't had CBS but I'm sure that was good too).

I totally agree. That's what they're an Indiana brewery

Centennial is lacking? All Day? Double Trouble? I'm failing to see the lack.

Centennial isn't anything I'd buy, and All Day sucks. Haven't tried DT.

I live exactly equidistant from Founders and Three Floyds. Both are a five hour drive.

It's hard to 'care' or be a loyalist of a brewery when the only product I can get is a single bottle of ZD every year and the occasional bomber. I would love to have even just Alpha King and Gumballhead here (though from what I can tell, other areas within their geographical shadow would like to as well). It's hard to be a loyalist when product is so scarce. The reason I can be "loyal" to Founders is because their beer actually shows up on shelves. And not just at the beer store, at the local supermarket.

I don't see how FFF's inability to provide the supply of beer that their product demands as proof that what Founders is doing (seemingly, the exact opposite) as a mistake.

No, not tired of FFF. I'm fortunate to live close enough so if want something I can pick it up from the brewpub store.

Yes, liquor store presence for FFF in my south suburban area is thin-to-none, but that doesn't bother me. That's their business plan and out of my control. I do have a couple of nearby pubs that generally have a smattering of FFF on tap at any given time, but in general there's so much great beer out there - from other breweries - that it's not like I'm left with nothing to drink.

They'd only have to move the building about 200 feet to the west and then it would be in Illinois.
