After Spring Ale Fest, I would love to give Herkimer another shot. Case in point, look at this list: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/5408 now consider that entire list needs to be retired. Herkimer has done a full overhaul of their beers, and aren't triple decocting any of their beers anymore (a practice they used to employ with ALL of their beers).

Good to hear that they have possibly stepped up their game, but I think it may take some more time before they are up to the quality of Town Hall's brews.

Yeah, except that we have two kids, & when we go out, it's generally for dinner. So we find ourselves headed there less often now because the food isn't as much of a draw.

Lower quality food is no joking matter. I'm officially bitter.

Make sure you get to the game early & visit the Fulton tap room, which is only a block or two from Target Field. Their beer on tap is very good. We stop in before just about every game.

Who's brewing at the herk? I've been three times, all were down right terrible. Last time was almost a year ago. I was actually lamenting how great the location is and how bad the beer is.

Tyler (the writer of the article) is in my homebrew club and we were talking about Herkimer. He is a Packer fan that lives four blocks from there, and refused to go after his first visit. But, apparently Blake Richardson is the owner and original brewer, and has taken the head brewing role back with a couple of assistant brewers. Equipment was apparently another issue that has been addressed.
Remains to be seen, but that place needed a huge overhaul...now it needs to make good beer and hope they can change some minds. This market is becoming more competitive by the minute.

When did this happen? I had it when I was there for lunch about a month ago. It's still shown on their online menu as well...

I ate the Buffalo Chicken Penne yesterday. It is most certainly not gone. My two cents on the menu: while the fish and chips are gone, I disagree with a previous post that they've reduced the menu to dumbed down bar food. Were these references perhaps about Town Hall Tap? Smaller menu than the brewery and no Buffalo Penne at that location. A sidenote, the infusion is awesome right now, Milk Stout with coconut infusion. Cheers!

Well, damn. Maybe I was so blind with rage at the loss of my beloved fish 'n' chips that I missed it. Never mind. Don't you get tired of correcting me? :grimacing:

Any idea what their recent tap lists have been looking like? I was under the impression that they were going to start brewing new beers, but without getting rid of their old ones. They have one of the best happy hours in town , and I only live a few blocks away. It would be mighty nice to be able to enjoy a couple 2-4-1s of quality made beers, and then walk home.

Harriet is underrated. Not being located in a neighborhood with hipster cred might hurt its reputation, but for me West Side and Woodan only trail Town Hall's big hits in terms of local taps. The open doors in the summer, music, art work, and food trucks along with a skyline view especially at night are big draws to me besides the beer.

I was at City Beer in SF three weeks ago and two locals mentioned Town Hall immediately alongside Surly as flagships to the Minnesota beer scene. The original location is a bigger draw to me. I will picket Town Hall if they get rid of the fried chicken sandwich. That plate and a Mango Mama tap I had last fall might have been my best brewpub experience, and I've visited Russian River. It was that good.

I love that place. I'm normally very hippie phobic but the vibe is always so good there.
