No hard feelings in the least. Looking forward to the next time we get to share some brews. Cheers!

i think redrum is easily better than KBS personally. i'm a NEBCO fanboy, but i'm also a founders fanboy. founders can do almost no wrong, and their better are beers world class. they're probably the best national-distro type brewery in america.

maybe i still have some bias towards NEBCO because they're CT and very nice, but i don't think so. NEBCO is doing amazing things these days. they're hoppy one off beers are unbelievable, and redrum... that beer was out of left field for me. i had high hopes, but drinking that one was like: open, sniff, drink, double take, long pause, "holy shit!" i really think it's the best beer i've ever had.

Although RedRum is a awesome beer it is definitely not my favorite beer by NEBCo. That distinct honor goes to Fuzzy Baby Ducks....CHEERS

Idk I have a feeling the new Berliner will contend for best NEBCO beer ever as well as best name they've ever given a beer. Just a hunch.

Does anyone know if they're actually going the whole 9 yards with the berliner by actually using lactobacillus, or are they just making a normal beer with a lot of acidulated malt to fake-sour it?

They went the whole nine. I couldn't see them faking the funk.

Well, are you saying that because you know they're doing the full thing, or because you "couldn't see them faking" it? Introducing a strain like lacto to a fairly small brewery carries enormous risks and I wouldn't blame them for taking another route.

From what I've gathered over the years, bacteria like Lacto aren't all that dangerous: it's the wild yeast like Brett that are really a threat in terms of taking over a brewery - and besides, NEBCO has already successfully used Brett in Chardonneighbor, as well as Brett, Lacto, and Pedio in Fancy Pants.

I see no reason why they would bastardize a traditional style out of fear.

Traditional Berlinerweiss doesn't contain Brett, so I'd be surprised if NEBCO did. I do love that Bahnhof one with Brett, though...

i was under the impression that truly TRADITIONAL berliner weisse actually DID contain brett, and that it is the more recent examples that have not. maybe that's wrong? but yeah, makes sense

I didn't know they had previously used those strains, that's cool. Anyways, I really look forward to it.

Amity is sold out. CT bev mart has a very small amount as of yesterday afternoon. I think NEBCO will have it on tap today, if I remember correctly. Call to make sure.

Might be a spot in Danbury that has it, but that's most likely not on your way, and it may be 1+ months old.
