New NOOB BIF Sign-ups!

Nothing yet for me. It hasn't been easy to concentrate on grading papers tonight. Can't wait to see my first BIF target ever and then head to seekabrew to plan my attack.

 

I'm trying to write a lecture! I bought some more shippers today from a local company I am looking to try out. Stir-foam and egg-crate. I will be able to provide feed back, and I can assume my target will also They are a good price, especially if you live here in San Diego where you can buy local...

Has anyone been contacted by the OP? I thought he had said targets would go out today, so just curious if I'm the odd man out.

 

Nothing yet, but this is a huge BIF based on the last list that was posted. I think it could take a little time to get the targets all sorted out.

I saw a post earlier where somebody asked what was the largest BIF anybody had been part of? I didn't see where anybody answered. 80 is insane. Good luck with the logistical nightmare that assigning targets must be.

I'm starting to get nervous about packing my box. Can anyone recommend a pre-fab box/shipper that they like? Do any national chains (Target, Staples) carry anything like this?

 

Just get plenty of bubble wrap, the kind with the big bubbles. Put a good layer on the top, bottom, and all sides of the box. Give the bottles a double wrap. I like to have an over-lap at the bottom of the bottle that I can tape together then fold a square of bubble wrap and tape it over the top. Fill the remainder of the box with balled up newspaper. Just maket sure it's a tight fit so things aren't moving around.

 

..and if you can, use the blue painters masking tape or rubber bands to secure the bubble around the bottles. That makes it easier for the receiver to remove, and leaves the bubble in good shape so they can reuse it.

 

I bought 12 bottle styrofoam shippers off the Uhaul website before -- pretty cheap compared to other online prices too. Or like everyone else says - lots of bubble wrap, and if you want to feel safer, do box-in-box.

It's such a waste when people use packaging tape on bubble wrap!! It tears the wrap apart when you try to remove it and you can't wrap bottles in it again next time. Rubber bands are the way to go.

 

I am planning on getting a couple of those Uhaul wine shipper things, w/ peanuts/bubble wrap, and doing box in box. I don't want to eff this up. Excited to get my first target!!!

 

i think i was in before it closed but i didn't get a target. did i miss this?
