I've really been looking forward to Benchmark opening. Psyched to hear the news about their growlers and growler policy: http://benchmarkbrewing.com/Benchma...WERY_PROGRESS/Entries/2013/4/11_Growlers.html
Yet another La Jolla Brew House refugee, with a lot of experience at Alesmith before that. I suspect that in the least, his beers won't suck.
I like the part it's insulated up to 24 hrs. I prefer the flip top like Societe has on their SS growler. But not sure if their growlers are insulated. How much is the Benchmark growlers? $25? I will be in Kearny Mesa on a weekend trip in a couple of weeks. I will put Benchmark down for one of my brewery's to visit on this trip. I have a 34oz SS water bottle I use for bringing my water or whatever to work with me. I wonder when ABC gets their sh!te straight on the new growler policy I'd be able to use that to fill up with beer at any brewery?
Societe's growlers are double-walled, I believe. We did a test one time that made me think they were. Although I thought of an easier one just now. Fill it with water then put it into a bucket of water, if it floats (or at least doesn't sink like a rock) it's double-walled, if not it's not. I think these are going to be more expensive than that, if you follow the link on the site they retail for $50, which is kind of steep.
Yes. I was just on their facebook page and saw the price of the growler. Too much $$ for the growler IMO. But if you were to buy one growler to fill your beers I guess that would be a nice one. Insulated. And they are pushing for a May opening. So I'll have to check them out on a later trip.
They are not, should have done a double blind test [sober] haha. http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/societe-opinions.40550/page-3#post-514408
