I can't vouch for the bottle version yet, but I thought the original draft version was fantastic. Did not get any artificial flavors.

It is better by a good amount on tap, but still very solid. Just came home from the brewpub, growler of coffee Eugene in the fridge now...been gene warming on the counter top. I am a happy man right now

I lol at the draft vs bottle people. A lot of time they are from the exact same batch. Part is kegged and part is bottled.

Chicago is spoiled. We have Revolution, Pipeworks, Half Acre, Haymarket, and have pretty much annexed Three Floyd's.

True but places counter pressure fill their bottles and the bottle conditioned ones, the yeast eats up the oxygen, its part of their process to reproduce. They only start to produce alcohol and CO2 when they go into their anaerobic mode. Oxidation usually happens when it diffuses through an improper seal.

So you think a bottle stores just as well as a keg?

No kidding! Girlfriends brother is visiting from New Mexico and he is always blown away by our beer choices.

No I guess not. Kegs can be purged with CO2 and often have better seals than bottles. Kegs can also hold more beer so the diffusion of oxygen would be diluted. In the short term like this bean gene I would figure they are about the same.

I am not one of those that says shit like that. Most beers I can't tell or barely tell between bottles and kegs, but bean gene was pretty obvious to me

the coffee isn't what was artificial to me, there was just something about the beer as a whole that felt as much. well aware the rev uses legit coffee; the non-BA version of bean gene (called, oddly enough, coffee eugene) is fucking fantastic.

for the record, i had it on draft once in the old batch, and twice in the new batch and got the same artificial-y taste. have not had it out of the bottle yet.

I see absolutely no reason to compare Coffee to KBS.

KBS....BCS..BCBCS....Bene Gene...... can someone explain to me why BA beer has to be compared to every other BA beer and one crowned a champion or hell all beer in general? Why is this 'there can be only one highlander' mentality to beer, you guys all know they're different and some people (yes some people ((nod to zappa))) prefer A over B and there can never be a true winner of a subjective taste. As Arnold Drummond would say 'what might be right for you, might not be right for some.'
