Its funny.. I never noticed the Beer Rating Average on the brewery profile pages till just recently. I believe this score is solely based on the beer ratings as opposed to the brewery rating. So I began looking into which breweries held the highest beer averages. So far, the only ones I found that had an above 4 average beer rating are...
    Cantillon
    Prairie Artisan Ales
    Three Floyd's

Anyone know if there's an easier way to look up these beer averages by brewery? Anyone find a higher rating than Cantillon?

    Cheers.

Would Peg's Cantina pass your average of 4 calculation? Still kicking myself for not scoping it out last weekend.

Driftwood Brewery on Vancouver Island has a 4.14 average, and Hill Farmstead probably has the highest with a 4.31 average.

Hill Farmstead has to be the highest, and rightfully so! I just checked both Founders and Stone, the former is close w/ a 3.98 and the latter is just over w/ a 4.01... Lawson's Finest Liquids is a 4.07... These were the ones that came right to mind that I looked up and found average ratings of ~4.

Westvleteren wins with 4.48. Hill Farmstead has 4.31 which is slightly higher than Cantillon.
Drie Fonteinen also has a pretty high rating at 4.15

New England Brewing Co. is sitting pretty at 4.26. Go NEBCO!

Edit - Just looked up a few of my other favorite breweries:

    Good People = 4.24
    Russian River = 4.14
    Oakham Ales = 4.08
    Kernel = 4.08

Sierra Nevada has a 3.88, which sounds about right due to their extensive lineup.

Looks like westvleteren is top rank?

No, that's the brewery rating (as in the experience of going there). The beer average is to the left under beer stats.

I feel like Westvleteren shouldn't count though since it has so few beers. IMO you should have AT least 10 or maybe even 20 beers to be considered. Hell maybe even set it at 30, since that's the number in statistics that allows a study to be considered "statistically significant".

ah I see. Well in that case, it is amazing that Stone manages a 4.01 with all of it's offerings.

I'm with you, though I think 30 might be a bit much. 20 seems more fair. I also think that brewing a variety of styles is important, but that creates problems for breweries like Russian River (basically all IPAs, saisons, and sours). I think the most impressive one is either Hill Farmstead (4.31), New England Brewing Company (4.26), or Surly (4.21) since they all have variety and at least 20 beers a piece.

Regardless, I'd like to see a Top Breweries list like we have Beers of Fame and Top 250.

Russian River basically only brews IPAs, Saisons, and Sours? WTF? I just looked and out of current beers listed on here (not retired ones). Vinnie also brews the following: California Common/Steam Beer, American Blonde, Dubbel, BSPA, Tripel, BPA, English Pale, English Bitter, Czech Pilsner, APA, American Brown, Witbier, Quad, Irish Dry stout, Biere de Garde, American Porter, Belgian Dark, and BSDA. I don't think any of the breweries you mentioned have more variety than RR.
