I'm headed down top the Lehigh Valley this coming weekend to visit family and I'm considering a visit to Sly Fox. I haven't been to either one of their locations and I'm wondering which one I should check out. Is one better than the other? Advantages of visiting either one? A brewery tour isn't really that important.
With that said, which one would you recommend?

the Phoenixville location is a full-on restaurant and bar. The Pottstown location is the production facility. While the Pottstown location does serve food (mainly just pizzas and sandwiches), it's not as big of a menu as the Phoenixville location. Also, the ambience is different and each. The Phoenixville location reminds of a family diner. There will be kids and families there. The Pottstown one is more in line with a brewery tasting room. You'll also get to see the brewing facility. Less likely to run into kids, etc. So depends on which you're more in the mood for.

Depends if you want to eat or not. Phoenixville has a full menu and there are a lot more restaurants in the area. If you don't care much about food, go to whichever is closer, as they have roughly the same beers on tap at both, and takeout options are all the same.

If you're going to Sly Fox you might as well go to Tired Hands, right?

We would likely be eating lunch and travelling sans kids. Looking to just make one stop; Ideally picking up some Fox to bring back to Vermont with us.

If you give a moose a muffin...I first heard of these guys when Shaun Hill came down for beer week last year. This would be right up my dad's alley if they were open for lunch and we decided to head a little further down the road. So much great beer to be found just about everywhere these days.

Victory isn't far from Phoenixville either.

I prefer the pottstown location mainly because the food is way better. Really good pizzas. Also tired hands doesn't open til 4 but its a must-stop if you're anywhere remotely near ardmore. You could get there in 45 minutes with no traffic from pottstown.

If you're hell bent on a visit, Pottstown is closer, come right down Rt 100, but guessing they only sell sixes and bombers there. If you want a case you'll have to go to a distributor so might as well get it up around Allentown vicinity. If you do go to Pottstown or Phoenixville two very nearby beercentric places worth the stop are Craft Ale House in Limerick and Railroad Street in Linfield. Different food and vibe in each but both have really good food and great beer selections. They are both about half way between Pott'n and P'ville. And if you do go to Pottstown and want a case, Frank Smith is about two minutes away.

I agree with this. The food at Phoenixville has never been that great. The pizzas and sandwiches I have had in Pottstown were good.

I usually do Victory first, then pop in to Sly Fox. Victory is a good time with some tasty food.

Thanks for the insight everyone. If we head down we'll likely stop at Slyfox in Pottstown.

The Lehigh Valley is not all that close to Pottstown, is it? I would have to think that one of the Brew Works locations would make for a much more pleasant day.

Just throwing it out there....but if you're in or near Whitehall, stop by the Keystone Pub and ask for me (Paul) and I'll buy you a beer or two.

Agreeing with a few others. If you want some Sly Fox, pop in and get some, then go to Victory if you want to eat and drink happily. If I was pressed for time, I'd go to Victory, then stop at the Wegman's down the road and pick up some Sly Fox there.

Thanks again for the Sly fox insight everyone.
We are staying in Bethlehem, so if we get out over by the mall, we'll stop in for a beer.

You can buy cases of cans and 750ml bottles at both Sly Fox locations. You can also mix a case with 4 different sixers if you want, which you cannot do at a distributor and would have to go to your car and come back to do at Wegmans.

We failed to launch out of the Valley. I ended grabbing a few cases from Tanczos in Bethlehem. It was nice to be in PA again buying beer by the case!
Thanks again for all the valuable insight. Slyfox is still on my list of places to visit in the future.
