I'd make the trip for the bottle share cause the BAs are awesome, not for the beer. If you don't want to make the drive, I'm sure I can send you a bottle or two. Or I'm betting a bunch of Houstone BAs will be there.

You guys are doing good, and I think some of your locals are clearly better than the locals in some nearby states in the Southwest section. AZ might, might have better distribution but our locals are no good IMO.

fyi, i took this at the bay area specs in clear lake yesterday, with another ~ case or so of V@S on the shelf. More Sea Monster or Sculpin that you could shake a stick at.

They've been my supplier for V@S that hasn't let me down since the release.

They should send all that V@S to DFW locations, it wouldn't last the month up here.

I'd say it's closer to Temptation. Both have a lighter blonde body. Supplication is a sour brown. In fact it surprised me how much it reminded me of Temptation.

I think we're drinking beer through a fire hose right now. We have had so much new distribution that most people wouldn't have even dreamed of 2 years ago. We, BAs, also make up a small part of the beer market. While we are more vocal, and spend more money per person, there are plenty of other consumers in Texas.

That being said, I am enjoying trying as much of the new things that I hear about as possible. As a result of these new beers, I am leaving some older standbys in the dust. Everybody wants a chance to try the most limited beers from new distribution in Texas, and I definitely think there is expectation that with any of the limited locals, we get them.

I believe, like other people have said, that there is only so much shelf/tap space for beers to grab our attention and be sold in the market. Also, the average beer drinker probably is not going to go more than a couple of places to seek out that "new beer" they heard about. I think that most of the TX BAs, at least the ones I know, are not spoiled, they/we are just trying to stay up to date while also not drinking ourselves out of house and home in the process.

As for specific beers gathering dust, that is a distribution and forecasting problem. If the issue is that too many beers get left on the shelf, it is countered by the beers that fly off the shelf and don't see distribution again. The distributors and the breweries have to work to predict what and how much we as consumers want to buy, and it is an ongoing and tricky process.

No matter what though, I am happy with the amount of great beers we are getting access to these days. I will always want to try the new beer. I may not keep drinking it in the future, but that is my decision to make, and that decision doesn't make me spoiled, it just makes me a BA.

Distributors really should have forecasters if they don't already. Many other industries already have them and once you establish patterns you stop losing profit. Brilliant idea Scott!

All you lurking distributors/reps, send this guy a check.

    Survival of the fittest.

Hopefully real craft beer won't be squeezed out too much while things like Blue Moon and Leinenkugel's rot on the shelf. I'd much rather continue to not buy Sculpin than continue to not buy Lemon-Lime-Blueberry-Strawberry-Cider-Shandy.

I can't follow this concept at all. There is other places that have way more selection that we do. I say the ppl in CO, So Cal and No Cal are the spoiled ones.

My concern wasnt about having too much, it was about the trend I've noticed where people get excited for a new brewery, and then pretty much fall off on buying their stuff right away because they're chasing the next "big thing" coming along. I'm concerned we end up losing some of these new breweries, like we lost Allagash

I think we also partially lost Allagash because they were ahead of their time for this market and over extended their distribution footprint.

I didn't buy a lot of Allagash due their prices.

Maybe. I hear a lot of people say they didn't buy Allagash because of the prices, and now we regularly spend $12-18 a bottle on lots of stuff, so perhaps they were just on the front end of the curve

I just hope Texas breweries can keep Texan BAs attentions with all the new stuff from out of state flying at us right now.

I grow tired of going on Spec's website and seeing Allagash beers being offered for sale. They don't have them in stock and they are too lazy to remove them.
