Traveling up from NC to Richmond this weekend. Anyone have suggestions on some spots to check out or beers that I can't find in NC? I've got a visit to Hardywood Park and Mekong on my list and would appreciate bottle shop tips. Hoping to at least find some Troegs and Firestone Walker to bring back and would appreciate any recommendations.

bottle shops: Once Upon a Vine North, Corks & Kegs
bottle shops with growler fills: Whole Foods, Ellwood Thompsons

if you're down near the Midlothian area, go to Extra Billys on Midlothian TNPK for pulled pork/brisket and some really good drafts PA/IPAs/growler fills.

you can bring your growlers (32/64oz) with you to fill up here...

I travel from Raleigh to Richmond for work frequently. I make it a point to stop at Corks N Kegs to pick up some sixers of FW Union Jack & bombers of Double Jack. I'd ask if he's got anything good in the back, maybe a Parabola? I also like to pick up a sixer of Troegs Hopback.

Obviously, if you haven't been, try and hit Mekong.

Mekong and Commercial TapHouse are a must.

Awesome tips guys, thanks. Definitely looking forward to Mekong and Corks N Kegs. Some of the bottle shop pages I've seen mention they carry Cigar City. I was unaware CC distributed there. What's the likelihood of finding any of their brews?

VA gets very little Cigar City. You may be able to find Jai Alai and guava grove, but no specialty beers.

Recently we haeve only gotten Maduro Brown, but to be honest, I haven't seen any CC in town in the past few months. There are a ton of people with Hunahpu though if you are looking to set up a trade.

If you like baseball the Richmond Flying Squirrels are playing at home this weekend. The stadium is near Hardywood Park brewery. I was told they have Hardywood Singel and Center of the Universe pale ale on draft this season. Last season I went and their most expensive seat was $12-$15. At that time they had legend brown ale $8 for a 32oz. If the weather is nice it is a good time.
