KBS Friday 4-06 - Bavarian Lodge

    They are tapping a keg tomorrow. Other treats as well:

    - Founders KBS (Imperial Stout Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels)
    - Lost Abbey Angel's Share Vintage '10 (Bourbon Barrel-Aged)
    - Firestone Walker XV (Rare Oak-Aged Blended Strong Ale)
    No RSVP is required and these beers are available on a first come, first served basis. If you haven't been to the Bavarian Lodge, do yourself a favor and get out there. It's one of the best beer bars in the Chicago area and on our short list of favorite suburban beer bars.

    If I recall there was a line outside well before they opened last time they tapped KBS. I'll drive by but it's also my birthday, so no plans to stand in any lines...

    Personally I'd rather have a couple Bourbon Angels Share than KBS.

    I also wouldn't figure on much of a line. Last time I was there with a line was for the Founders event where they had CBS, Black Biscuit and a bunch of other beers from Founders, and even then they had enough for almost everyone who waited in line.

    Personally I'd hope that Angel's Share lasts into Saturday so I can stop by for a quick glass while running some errands.

    For a moment I thought this was referring to Bavarian Inn in Frankenmuth, and I got excited. KBS & Angels Share + fried chicken would've made a great combination.

    Now 100 people are going to show up at 4pm and KBS will be gone before I can get there around 5:30! But, as long as the other 2 are still on tap I would be ok with it.

    Once I got the email from Bavarian Lodge about this tapping I immediately requested the day off work, blew off the date with my girlfriend and told my grandpa I couldn't help him with yard work Saturday morning cuz I'd be too hungover. My friend and I have been sitting outside the Lodge since Midnight to get that all important first pour! Hahahahaha!

    I was there, missed KBS (of course) but firestone 15 and Angels Share were excellent. It was awesome to be able to order a bottle of Curmudgeons better half! Bavarian Lodge is awesome!

    I was just here for the first time last week. I can't believe I've never been here before! Monk's Cafe Flemish Sour on tap was fantastic, and I couldn't believe their beer menu. I had a 3F Oude Kriek and really wanted to try the Cantillion but it was a bit pricey and a bit much to drink by myself. Wish I had been here for Angels Share on tap, but I will be keeping my eye on this place for future events for sure

    I always tell people B Lodge has the best tap list in Chicagoland, but I am a bit biased because I love they're food and it's only 20 minutes from me.

    Its a good 45 minutes from me, and much longer if I try to leave/come back to the city during traffic hours (almost the whole day), and I will still make that trek because its that good. Amazing bottled beer list, and a fantastic tap list. Oh and great German food! If only I could move this building closer to the city.
