it was $10 for a 6oz not a 5oz as I originally posted, but yes it happened. it was for sucaba. day after inital release at a place. just not kewl to out the place publically. so you can be skeptic if ya want. ive been on BA for a very long time and I do not have to justify my integrity.

    Same with XII.

Sad thing I heard that the keg cost was out-freakin'-landish. And we all know that BA Rasputin is generally the most expensive BA stout per ounce outside of Eclipse and The Bruery. I shiver thinking of what a keg of BT or CR would cost!

I'd think it would be the same price as Eclipse on tap since they sell at the same price, iirc. ($30/bottle).

Of course, those are brewery-only releases on tap. :stuck_out_tongue: (Maybe a festival or two as well)

    Yes
Yes! The establishment guilty of this was the "UN"Friendly Spot and I've since avoided this place.

What's so hard about just naming the places? Why beat around the bush, they deserve to be called out.

Black Crack was also freakin' normally overpriced at $12/bottle (more in some places).

this thread is not to bash places, it was basically referring to the sudden increase of prices on beers served in Texas. I do not paying a little extra for a bigger beer, but the question is what makes sucaba a more expensive beer than oaked aged yeti? or BA bigfoot? When the hype of craft beer was relatively unknown in Austin, retailers priced beer according to a certain mark up. To me they may make craft beer to expensive in Austin for me. I bet the stuff will sit on shelves elsewhere in texas for that price or on tap somewhere for a very long time.

This was a semi-Fist of the North Star related reference if anyone got that, by the way.

wasnt questioning your integrity, just your information. but it sounds like you bought the beer yourself, so i believe it, and agree its ridiculous.

I know, right, compared to a $12 non barrel aged farmhouse stout that isn't that good.

Oh wait, Black Crack was way better than FBM and a way better value even if it's 250ml lighter.

Agreed, though that was based on a pretty typical margin, meaning that the cost to retail was pretty expensive as well.

These comments confuse me when Jester King beers that aren't barrel aged often go for $12+

I guess the word artisan and being from Austin makes it okay?

    1. 1 Jester King non-BA beer might go for that much.
