I am visiting Michigan and have been drinking some great local beers from Bell's, Founders, and Jolly Pumpkin. What is your favorite state for local craft breweries and why?

My favorite is Michigan because that's where I live and that's all I know so far. I so want to plan a flight out to Cali to check out some of the greats they have to offer. It may be in the near future. But I am SO happy that we have what we have here in Michigan. I can't complain!!!

Did you get a chance to try the "Frangelic Mountain Brown" from Founders? I LOVED IT!!! Hoping if it leaves it will at least be around for the Black Party!

California. Probably the general San Diego area as a whole.

I would really like to get back to that area now that I'm into Craft Beer. I was at MCRD in 1993 and spent a few years after that at Camp Pendleton. Have a lot of friends out that way, so I would love to get back out there for a visit.

Definitely Michigan. Just look at what we have... Founders, Bell's, New Holland, Jolly Pumpkin, Shorts, Right Brain, Rochester, Kuhnhenn, Dragonmead, Arcadia, Big Rock, Dark Horse, Livery, Greenbush, etc etc etc.
    I could type all day.

For me it's a toss up between Pennsylvania and California. California has a ton of IPAs that I love, but PA has has a bunch of breweries that make a wide variety of great beer. Plus I fear PA BAs would toss me out of the state if I said otherwise.

Cascadia. The area from the CA/OR border North to the WA/BC border, and from the Cascade Mountains West to the Pacific ocean. The State of Cascadia is clearly the best beer state to be in!

still the king. oregon's great, massachusetts is on the up, north carolina and florida surprisingly growing, but cali is still the place with the most diverse, high quality set of breweries.

Michigan: The Great Beer State. Reasons? Bell's, Founders, Dark Horse, Kuhnhenn, Short's, and Jolly Pumpkin, for starters, are all world-class. Throw in the fact that most decent-sized towns and cities have at least one good or great local brew pub, and there you have it.

either california or michigan. both have a ridiculous amount of great breweries in different locations, and probably a whole bunch of local brewpubs that ive yet to try.

Given your name is yankeefan I think we have reason enough to kick you out.

I think PA probably has the best beer scene given the number of established breweries, Philly Beer Week, and the great distribution but I'd say probably Michigan is the best for local craft breweries.

NC to me is definitely one of the greatest states with all of our wonderful breweries across the state. Between Asheville, Raleigh/Durham, and Winstom Salem (just to name a few cities with awesome breweries), I think our state is doing pretty well.
