Huh? That's ALL they brew (even their Porter and Lord Chesterfield Ale are bottom-fermented). Their former flagship, Yuengling Premium (first bottle, on left), is a typical "AAL". Premium was eventually replaced as their main beer by Traditional Lager, which only was created and first released in the late 1980's.

You realize that both beers you've listed as tied for #3 "Best", are brewed by MillerCoors, in their breweries under contract with Pabst.

So, you don't trust that Keith Villa, MC's "beer doctor" and the "discoverer" of the pre-Pro era recipe, is telling the truth when he is quoted in a Washington Post article (which specifically says Batch 19 is 20% corn grits) that it has "... far less corn than is used in regular Coors..."?

my dislike of Bud Miller and Coors has everything to do with their advertising and how they have manufactured consensus among millions of adults to prefer drinking bland, dumbed down beers. TV commercials and ubiquitous logos make me not want to drink their beers, especially the 'premium' offerings of Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors Light. They charge more for these beers than for their 'popular' priced beers such as Busch, Natural Light, Milwaukee's Best, Keystone, etc. for no other reason than people are dumb enough to pay the difference.

A special place in Hell should be reserved for the people responsible for Coor's Light advertising. The fact that an entire campaign can be designed around beers being extracted from snow and ice so that it is really cold makes my blood boil.

If these same corporations contract brew for other labels or purchase microbreweries I cannot control it.

Lately I have been drinking alot of AALs and I have figured out that there are beers available for $ 15 a 30 pack that are much better beers than the $ 20 for the BMC flagship beers. I now drink Genny, PBR and Naragansett because they are cheap and actually taste like beer.

nothing like a little poverty to teach the economics of beer pricing.

Yet again the implication that everyone actually likes AALs but some of us just won't admit it because we're beer snobs. It couldn't have anything to do with the taste, right?

Of course, if someone posted that they didn't like the excess hoppiness of IPAs, would they get comments like "C'mon man, you never wanted a real mouth-puckering swig of grapefruit-flavored beer!? Admit it!"

Or would they get recommendations for styles that are less hoppy? Or maybe comments like "Well, IPAs aren't for everyone"?

I defer to the expert. Then these beers are mis-classified on BA?

Hasty misreading. By you. Note the phrase "Yet again..."

My point being, not who exactly you were referring to, whether one person or two people or everyone who dislikes AALs, but that this kind of statement comes up often in these forums. You refer to one BA, another respondent refers to other BAs, it's the same implication each time: BAs who say they don't like AALs really do, they just won't admit it.

Probably - but regardless of BA or others' classification, the OP wrote only "American adjunct" (sic) which I took to mean any American beer brewed with adjunct(s).

In the specific case of Yuengling Premium Beer, which I see is listed on BA as a
that is clearly wrong- since that particular beer, like all Yuengling beers, uses corn an adjunct (former corn grits, it appears they have recently switched to corn syrup for at least some of their beers, according to a recent article in the local paper - "The liquid adjunct tank will be used for the storage of corn syrup.").

If I may be so bold, my favorite 3 Italian adjunct lagers:
Forst VIP pilsner, Peroni, Menabrea 150 Amber.

    Bottom 3:
so many, but I suppose I'll throw in Birra Moretti, Nastro Azurro(different than the standard Peroni here,) and Poretti 3 Luppoli.

Though when I want a pale easy drinking lager I almost always reach for something like Spaten, Paulaner, or Pilsner Urquell, all of which are almost as cheap in these parts as the ubiquitous adjunct lagers.

If it was a lighthearted comment and I'm taking it too seriously, why did you bother to respond?
And if it was only to one person, why did you post it to an open forum for everyone to read & respond to? You know you can reply to individuals only, right?

BTW, I do respect beer. And I respect BAs. I don't diss people who like AALs and I don't tell people who dislike other styles to fess up that they really do.

Next time you're around these parts, I'll buy you a beer, any style you want, and we can discuss this further.
