Is it just me, or is there a gross lack of stouts made by Texas breweries? As far as reliable, year round stouts, all that comes to mind is Burried Hatchet and Black Metal. I started the "Best Texas Brews" thread with hopes people would mention more stouts, but no such luck. If I'm wrong, please educate me, or if you agree, please cry out in the hopes more Texas breweries will strat to brew more stouts!

Don't forget Temptress. Got mentioned quite a bit in that thread...

Mother Lil Fracker by Revolver is solid. La Muerta by Freetail. Darkest Hour by DEBC.

Considering the temps here I figure the summer brews are more in tune...but some good shit is happening

I enjoy Snowmageddon by Rahr quite a bit. It isn't intended to be year round but because it says Rahr most avoid it. They really got it dialed in this year.

Temptress and Black Metal have me covered if I want a Texas stout, but I'd just as soon grab some Old Rasputin. While I certainly won't say no to more stouts, I'd rather brewers expand production into styles that are more difficult to get in Texas.

Alternatively, just buy multiple cases of your favorites when they come around in the Winter.

Who wants to drink stouts year-round? Not many people, which is why they're typically a seasonal for Texas breweries.

Armadillo Ale Works has an Impy Stout, Quakertown Stout. Contract brewed by Deep Ellum. Oh yeah, don't forget Darkest Hour.

I've always thought the Independence Convict Hill Oatmeal Stout was pretty decent.

As far as porters, there's a few good ones also. 512 Pecan Porter is probably my favorite from Austin. The Rogness Ost is pretty tasty as well.

But yeah, not too many breweries around here have a year-round stout.

Stouts aren't exactly flagship brews in TX, definitely a seasonal/special release thing.

This is probably my favorite TX stout. Just wish I could find it on tap more.
