Best Liquor Store Finds

Yup!

 

All of 'em - in-state, at least - that's where all off-premise beer is sold in NJ for the most part - liquor stores.

OTOH, if I cross the border beer shopping in the PA or NY- none; no beer sales at all in those states' liquor stores.

 

Called to check the stock of Boulevard beers near my parents in KS and how it got to Goose Island and them having Rare on the shelf. We needless to say my family grabbed one for me.

Was in Florida a couple days ago and found all three Dos Coestes Oestes at Whole Foods.

Found a last bottle of Parabola a month ago at a bottle shop notorious for being a BMC place

 

Walked into a random Liquor store yesterday and found tons of CCB Tocobaga, White Oak Jai Alai, Winter Warmer and Good Gourd just hanging out collecting dust. The Jai Alai is August 2011, but still bought a pack.

 

In So Cal we are still waiting to find Hoptimum.

damn it, you're the second person i know who's picked up a '09 angels share. where'd you get it? if you say davidson's i'm gonna flip. a friend of mine picked one up there this weekend and when i called in about it found out that they were aging those for a release and some new jack sold it on accident.

and i found some BORIS and mikkeller barrel aged texas ranger. yum.

 

Cantillon - Gueze and LP Kriek
Firestone Walker - Abacus, not Sucaba (a few sitting on the shelf from last year - I'm not a big fan, not that I don't like it, but I was able to trade it for something I'd rather have)
Also Parabola and FW 14, getting these almost a year later from their release and these beers I love so they're in the cellar
Some Trappist Rocherfort's with 4 yrs of age on them!

 

Mine is still when I found Batch 1's of all the Avery Demons(and it was in the last 3 months). I currently have 2 2005 Beast, 1 2005 Samael, and 4 2006 Mephistopheles. Going to crack one soon for sure.

Oh and the Russian River haul of Consecration, Temptation, Supplication, Sanctification, and Redemption found in.... Ohio

 

My best find was during the famous GI BCBS Rare release. My local bottle shop usually takes online orders for special releases and I missed out. However, when people don’t pick up their orders the manager puts the bottles on the shelf’s for the regular in store buyers. One day I’m walking down the aisle browsing when I see the manager put a nice green box out on the shelf. I quickly pick it up and look at him and he just gave me a funny nod. It was a pretty nice find.

 

My best find thus far was a lonely bottle of CBS, which I found almost a week after the release.

 

Not liquor store but today at my work (a restaurant) I found two unopened pumpkings in the garbage, needless to say i scolded the beer manager.

 

Sorry to hear you found and bought an 09 Abyss. Most bottles are infected, I've had it 3 times and all were terrible.

 

About six months ago, I found some Rodenbach Vintage 2007 on sale for $11 dollars a bottle. About six months before that I found some Fou Foune chillin on the shelf for $24.

 

Dec 20th, 2011 I Found 34 bombers of 2009 BCS on the shelf and in the fridge at a liquor store under the el tracks in Chicago's Wicker Park hood. Price tag was $13.99 and I bought them all and he gave me them for $12 each since he said they were old......

 

I guess so.

I found stashes of 2004 DFH World Wide Stout, 2005 DFH Rasion D'extra, 2004 3F Oude Gueuze, and 2007 3F Oude Kriek last summer in small local shops.
