Holding an American Porter bracket style tasting on Friday. Seeding was based on BA overall scores. 1 oz of each beer in each matchup, participants vote for a winner. Everything will be completely blind. Anyone care to predict the winner?

Any of the top 5, minus King Titus, and yeah, I wouldn't argue.

No Deschutes Black Butte? Of that list I'd give the nod to Ed Fitz.

    That's what I was thinking.

I guess it isn't up there with the highest rated anymore.

http://beeradvocate.com/lists/style/159 Higher rated than some of the beers in the bracket. Must be a distro issue. OP: if you ever decide to trade for some Black Butte, I also suggest you get some Maui Coconut Porter. They're both in similar distribution maps and only cost $1-$2 each.

Only porters distributed in Western New York. Love to have Black Butte involved, but N/A here.

No imperial porters or Baltic porters. Victory at Sea would walk away with this bracket like Kentucky in the 2012 NCAA

Again, no imperial porters. Considered entering Flying Dog Road Dog but refrained.

Imperial and Baltic porter bracket is for another day, of which Victory at Sea will win hands down IMO. American porters, highest ABV 6.5 this weekend.

Is it me or is Anchor Porter almost embarrassingly underrated?

Come to Portland. I've bought four-packs of Coconut Porter for $8 and six-packs of Black Butte for $6 here.
