Visiting Austin, looking for some recommendations

    I'm a Michigan native, and I'm going to visit a friend who lives in Austin. He hasnt lived there that long so he doesnt have the best handle on the beer scene. Im just looking for a little direction from some local beer advocates on breweries, taphouses, bars etc. that I need to visit, or avoid.

    It would help a lot if you could let us know what part of town your friend lives in. Also when you are visiting could change your options.

    If you just want to drink lots of great locals... Craft Pride on Rainey St is my favorite place now. Otherwise, yeah, search. kmello69 made a huge list that should be around.

    Whip In in Austin is where I go when I am down there. Don't really know the area to well so I just stick with what I know. And the nachos are the bomb!!
