Wow, I picked up Fruet for $18 the other day, didn't realize that was such a great price for it. It's the highest I've seen a Bruery beer cost but I haven't seen many of the top-end ones around.

Just picked up 5 Golden Rings for $10 and Smoking Wood for $19. I was less than 5 miles from the Bruery though. Not sure if that makes that big of a difference.

[quothe "kdb150, post: 1247037, member: 663505"]$15-$30 for a 750ml bottle, and every cent was completely wasted, as 90% of the beer I've bought that was made by the Bruery has gone right down the drain.[/quote]

Wow the trolls are comming out on this one. You must be more of a Sam Adams kind of guy huh? =P

Okay first off they do not charge $300 for just a membership you buy $300 of beer, well $250+ merchandise in order to be in the club. Some of you guys are making it sound like its just for the membership.

Many or the bruerys beers are absolutely worth the price tag IMO. Many of their barrel aged beers are very high ABV and are made for sipping with a friend not chugging. In fact I pull bout melange #3s with two friends since its 6 beers in one. I find paying $30 for something that my friends and i can share is doable.

OP as far as pricing goes they have 3 ranges low end beers 9-13, mid range prices like SitR, Oude Tart, smoking wood ect 18-22, high end melange, white chocolate, BT, Boris $30

I was at a bar last week and we were all drinking and wanted something great that was sour so I paid $25 for a bottle of sour in the rye which kinda hurt paying that mark up when I get mine for 16.99 but I grabbed it and we had a great time. What does all this pricing crap matter? If you can afford to try to and want to grab it and enjoy.

Lol... so if we don't like bruery beer, were trolls who only drink sam adams? Yowza... that's the kind of logic that leads people to like five golden rings and sour in the rye. Also, telling someone who feels that a beer is overpriced to "just not buy it" is a taf silly, no? Its obvious that I'm not going to buy it, isn't it? Ps: Oude tart is NOT a good sour. No depth, no complexity. Urgh.

Sooooo you've never had melange 3 or Fruet...

Perhaps you should not write off their BA strong ales yet

This is most likely because they haven't changed the inventory pricing since the year before's Cuir ($18). I live in California and the same thing happened to me. Went back the next day, they fixed the price to $30.

I've given them twenty dollars for two turds. Not gonna waste 30+. If the only good beers you make cost that much, then you're not a good brewer, in MY humble opinion.

Their pricing is not out of whack with other barrel aged beers and sours. You could argue they are a value since the Bruery is giving you 750ml when others are 22oz or 375ml (sours). The ones that offer 750ml are 28 to 35.

The RS or HS memberships pay for themselves with included bottles and the 15 or 20 % disc you get on ALL purchases. The bonus is you get hassle free guaranteed allotments of limited sought after beers. If you like their beer and buy a majority of their offering it is simple math to see the benefit.

It is funny how the Bruery gets singled out when the latest GI, Founders or Bells offerings are comparable in pricing when you figure in bottle size, gas, time, and effort spent chasing trucks. Not to mention learning secret handshakes for multiple bottle shops it requires to get them.

We all do what we have to do to get what we want. The Bruery and Alesmith just have found ways to make it problem free. I can only hope that Lost Abbey adopts something before this years DDG release.

I love these threads where people cry and moan about beers being too expensive. Here's a thought, and it's a pretty simple one: Don't buy it if you think it's too much. And don't thread shit on someone else's questions about it either. No one is forcing you to buy anything, and no one surely gives a fuck what you think about them either.

What did you drink from them that you feel was no good? look I am still pretty new to the whole BA world and I wanted to join the group that strayed from the craft beer masses drank and the gimmicky beers as you put it, however after going to Cali and surrounding areas and drinking a large amount of there year rounds, seasonal, specials, honestly I have drank one or two beer from them that weren't money, and that is saying a lot in my eyes.

I'll agree with 5 golden rings, not a fan, and Oude tart was another that I didn't love, however Mischief gone wild, tart of darkness, so good, Black Tuesday is simply amazing, also not a fan of that brown ale, but honestly their shitty beers are higher quality then some breweries best attempts.... P.s I loved sour in the rye.

This is a thread about bruery pricing, and people are talking about the pricing of bruery beers. Were on topic, you're telling us to stop talking abiut the topic. Go away? You're ttying to tell people that they can't have an opinion if it's different than yours... sweet, dude.

I am apparently very inarticulate in my current state. You missed the point, with all due respect. My point was, after all of my pontificating, was that "high" has a very subjective definition, personal to each.

If you don't like the beer, that is unfortunate, but that issue is really more related to your personal palate than the brewery doing something wrong. The beer is rated 95 BA 99 RB and won two World Beer Cup golds and one GAFB gold. It's probably the most highly awarded Flemish Red there is in recent years.

I see a lot of people who negatively judge The Bruery do it over a handful of beers, despite the brewery making 50+ different beers in a year. There is a lot more to the story. If you're not in one of the clubs or local you really don't see the full picture. If I lived on the east coast and only had access to a couple of their beers I wouldn't be too jazzed about it either. If you ever have the chance to go to one of their Initiation or Barrel parties, believe me, it is awesome.

Or, just maybe they're trying to fill a need for people who are adventurous and like to expirement or try new things? Just maybe they are selling beer that SOME PEOPLE want. Perhaps not you, but it would appear some. Maybe they are filling a need; just not a need for you.

As I said, I don't buy their bottles. It's perfectly reasonable to be against certain practices in the brewing industry, like overcharging, using only big format bottles, not bottle dating, keeping old beers on shelves, etc. This is a discussion board, after all.

I can't help it. Again and again I ask....why is The Bruery (or anyone for anything, for that matter) "overpricing?" What on earth does that mean!!?? It means it's too high for you! That's it! Am I nuts? What am I missing?

Please, if you have a rationale basis for a conclusion that The Bruery (or anyone else) is "overpriced," I'd love to hear it and you will have my apology. I happen to have just a bit of a glimpse into the brewery world for a couple of breweries, The Bruery being one of them. It uses very high priced and the best of ingrediants; it purchases its bottles from the best of bottle producers; it clearly used high end and unique labels, each being cut from a different die; and it can go on and on and on. (And, not just for the Bruery but several more).

You simply may not like the beer or like the price - again I say don't buy it and that's your perogative. Or, at least give a basis for your opinion instead of simply an unfounded and unsupported conclusion.
