I'll be in Mckinney from May 14-16 for business and need the expertise of some Texan BAs. What are some good places for beers and/or food? What are some good bottle shops? What beers should I pick up I can't get in Colorado? I enjoy sour and bourbon barrel aged beers most but am always open for suggestions. Might be open for a trade as well one of the nights I'm there. Bottle shops I know of in that area: Choice Beverage, Central Market, Whole Foods, Specs Sours: Jester King (Boxer's Revenge, RU-55, Funk Metal), Rodenbach if you don't get that in CO Non-sour: Jester King El Cedro, Lakewood Temptress Are you planning on venturing out of Mckinney? If so, how far?
You would probably be better off trading if you want limited or harder to find stuff. I did an IP with a Denver BA a while back that worked out great. He brought some limited stuff from his area and I did the same and we both walked away really happy. Probably be better than running around DFW looking for specific bottles that may or may not be available.
You might want to contact Brad (cfh64) - he's from McKinney, I believe, so would probably be your best resource for suggestions
As I don't have a while lot of time I'll probably have to stay around mckinney. How easy are the JK sours to find?
The three I listed are getting more difficult to find up here, though by the time you get here Viking Metal might be out with good availability. You'll probably be better off setting up an IP beforehand for those like lokieman suggested.
One of my best friends lives in McKinney & swears by Las Colinas Beverages. I went there once a while back & they had just about everything available in Texas. Seems it was about 30 minutes away from his house in McKinney.
In order of best places... 1. My house 2. Square Burger- 25 taps or close to it 3. The Pub- about half a block from Square Burger. Not as many taps but more varied food. All of the above are in downtown McKinney. I also just added many more beers from Chicago so I have plenty of stuff to share. I'll check my schedule tomorrow and perhaps we can meet up.
After the last 4 days I've had in Chicago/Michigan I don't even want to think about drinking anything until Ananke. Lol Had a great time hanging out with you guys.
Lol, ditto. I'm surprised I haven't run into you at the airport yet. I had a great time with you and Dan. I'm still pretty sure I'll be going to the Ananke release so we can do it all over again
