simple question. not so simple answer. i love ipas, stouts, porters, farmhouse ales, trappists and damn near every other style of beer out there but if i had to choose one that stands out above the rest its gotta be hefeweizen. whats your favorite?

Ale. But only by a slight margin over Lager.

I checked my top 50 and....American Wild Ale wins!

Edit: Btw, there are 21 different styles in my top 50.

IPA, no question. Pretty funny that I didn't even like IPAs a couple of years ago. Stouts would be #2 for me.

Smoked beers for me! Just don't make me choose between Rauchbiers and Smoked Porters.

Ha! I checked your beer ratings....no wonder it was such a tough call. You get points for having Alaskan Smoked Porter up there. I've been drinking it for 12 years, when it comes out later this year.

Man, that's a really tough question. My answer would depend on the day. Every day I come home from work, go to my beer fridge, and stand there just thinking about what I'm in the mood for. If you held a gun to my head, I'd probably say IPAs because that seems to be what I choose first more than anything else. Stouts would probably be last on the list. I like them, just not enough to crave one every day like I do IPAs.

I like dubbels, tripels, quads, doppelbocks, old ales, strong ales, hefeweizens, barley wines, and stouts most. Clearly I must be in a light beer phase.

I used to get it by the case from Belmont Station a ways back, when I was in NY (and it doesn't seem like shipping to NJ is really an option these days). Lately, though, I have managed to trade for it, so that was nice. And I could probably do it again, but recently we got Captain Lawrence Smoked Porter and it is really good and meeting my needs for now (even though I do prefer Alaskan).

Keep up the streak, though, man- you have access to something really special.

Probably Quadrupels, but there's a case to be made for Irish Stouts.

I give the highest ratings to sours, but I can't say they are my favorite style. There are several styles that I like equally despite rating them differently. I can't pick one style as a favorite.
