Hey everyone, in a couple of weeks I'll be in Oakland for a night (have a flight out of the airport the next morning) and wanted to finally go check out Beer Revolution.

What I was wondering is, what are some of the better food options that are nearby? The only place I've heard of in the area is Nido.

    Thanks!

Vegan Soulfood place right next door, Everett and jones BBQ a block away, home of chicken and waffles, boca nova in jack London square is pretty good too, but I would highly recommend chop bar, my favorite grub in that general area.

There is some new place next door but Yoshi's Japanese restaurant and sushi bar is two blocks away, and the Fat Lady is a tablecloth steak and seafood place one block away. Everett & Jones BBQ and a chicken -n- waffles place are nearby too. Of course, if you are that close, why not go to The Trappist and get something to eat while drinking more great beer. :grinning:

There's a Rosamunde a few block away, near Trappist. Olde Depot is an option, but they're vegan too. I really liked Forge's pizza when I was there, but it's crazy expensive. I hear good things about Shan Dong but have never been myself.

Of course, if you're like me you'll just be a lazy asshole and get a burger from Nation's.

Been to Nido for lunch - wasn't bad, though I have a hard time calling it one of the "best Mexican restaurants in the US," as Travel + Leisure Mag did recently (http://www.travelandleisure.com/articles/best-mexican-restaurants-in-the-us/22). It's also not really THAT close to Beer Rev, especially if you're strolling around the neighborhood at night.

I'd put in another vote for Chop Bar - great burger, among other things (one of these days, my arteries and I will order that oxtail poutine...). Or Shan Dong - great northern Chinese food.

Paul, let me know when you will be in Oakland. I'd be happy to head up there to meet up with you (as long as it's before May 20th).

Can you take food to Beer Revolution?

I double checked, and it's May 23rd when I'll be down there. Maybe we will meet up at another tasting sometime?

Yes. There's an outdoor patio with picnic tables. I've seen a group with a whole roasted pig there once.

Always love a Rosamunde Sausage when I head to the Toronado, so that could be a good option.

I used to like Le Cheval for Vietnamese. Not sure if it is still good.

Also if you have time go visit hangar one, it is a great location and a fun time.

Answered above, but just to be clear, you can take food inside too. Just don't make a mess, especially with meat products.
