    Thanks for the reply.
The word whale kind of pissed me off a bit. Even if it is as great as I hope it will be, calling it a whale means to me that its only worth trading it for the fad of the day. If I get the chance to buy more than one bottle, I can say 100% that I will share it with people instead of trying to get the beer of the week in trade for it.
    Cheers!

I see I have missed some action.

I don't want a reserve society. Quit being lazy and go hunt the beers down. As someone said before, it will only make the harder to find beers even harder to find.

This is not an economic issue for me, I could buy several memberships if I wanted to.

Brandon will hook me up. I don't have to chase down JK beers.

Also, Gotlandsdricka is aging well. I don't know why people talk so much shit about it. Just cracked one open.

    That is all.

P.S. I will probably be at JK this weekend if I don't get stuck working. See you there, Jeff.

I get his humor and think its great. The problem that I have is the tossing around of the whale word. Texas has so far escaped the madness that surrounds the word whale, thank God. I don't want to be a part of that shit. The amazing beer that we have available to us is more than enough to get whatever beers we want.

I don't disagree, but putting Texas on the radar of the rest of the beer community is also something that needs to happen I think. I am, however, all for when a brewery has a "whale" and they reserve a lot of it back for their local community (and that happens a lot more than most people realize).

I've had and opened my fair share of whales with folks that would never have gotten to try it. I've traded for whales. I've traded whales for whales. I've given whales away as extras in trades. I've given whales away just because. I think that "whales" are all about what you do with them. Frankly, I've been called a hoarder a lot, over the years. Yeah, I have a lot of beer and I have a lot of whales, but every single time I open one...it's with a group like I mentioned in the first sentence of this paragraph. Do a lot of people that acquire "whales" do that? No...but I honestly feel like a LARGE percentage do.

More important than that...the amazing beer we have available is for us to drink. It is cool if Texas starts getting recognition for a lot of very good to excellent beers being made here. Though, in reality, I couldn't care less about that. We have it to drink, and not very many other states do (with the exception of a few breweries).

I think the warm fuzzy feeling one gets from the initial reaction and the subsequent gratitude you get for sharing a highly touted bottle far exceeds any feeling I've ever gotten from consuming any beverage...

Ultimately, we all really like beer and beer is a social beverage...always has been. So it is always an honor to help someone else try something they would enjoy or like to try.

I see your point and do not disagree at all other than the use of the word whale. It just makes me think of greedy hoarders who don't know what the word advocate means. We love great beer, I hope we can all agree on that. I choose to share what I acquire, not profit from it. Sounds like you are of the same mindset and I thank you for it.

That was very kind of you! You really should try the OG, though. It may well knock your socks off, especially with 18+ months of age on it.

Its kinda funny how people feel so entitled to every beer a brewery makes. Why do they suddenly not have the right to make some limited production stuff available to RS members? If you can't afford it I feel bad for you but most the nay sayers just don't wanna spend the money out of a moronic sense of self entitlement or because they spend tons of money on other beers. If a brewery is not on your priority list to reserve a certain Amount of your beer budget for what makes you deserve their limited beers?
