I don't think that they incompetent at all. I also, think that many people at this distributor know who Stone is, I just don't think that all the people there know every craft brewery that is available in the city. These warehouses are big operations and some of the people that work there are not really all that into beer. They deliver or they recieve ... it's just a job for some people, not a hobby. They know their products as they should, but beyond that some do not know very much, that's okay. I'm sure that the sales reps and beer focused management do know most of the products available in the area, however when you go down to the warehouse you can end up dealing with anyone. As for no Doom, I am just stating that there will not be Doom for sale by the bottle. It's better to know than to not.

    I was being facetious.

I'm glad we know, but like I said, its upsetting that Pittsburgh is missing a backstage release.

When CBS hits again (and by most accounts it will by 2015) it will be an absolute shit show.

Also, off topic, but If anyone in the area would like to set up a trade for KBS, shoot me a bm; I have more than plenty to trade.

I actually have a bottle! And once I drink it, if I really like it, I may hit you up. At the very least feel free to text me anytime for stuff you could use extra eyes on. I visit Whole Foods Wexford and like four of the GE's in the city on a weekly basis just doing the rounds. I need to start planning my next trip out to Vintage Estates too. Once I'm done with 50 hour work weeks maybe.

Well, sounds to me like pittsburgh is getting it, but the distributor has other plans for the cases they get??

Great, the one time I am higher than 5 on a list for a beer, they aren't even getting it apparently.

Well, sad news folks. I called http://wilsonmcginley.com/ and they said it's in. They have it. Doom is in Western PA! But...it's not for sale.

They said they will be doing samplings around the area in May and June.

    <insert sad face here>

yep, that's what I heard they were going to be doing. Sending it to beerfests, giving away in lotteries, etc...

I wonder if Founders is aware that that's what they're doing...another reason why the system in this state BLOWS!!

Not sure how this PA's system differs from others in this regard. It's the middle tier, which exists in every state. Do you think Founders would care? Sounds like W-G is basically giving it away in one way or another, which is their prerogative, right? Is it possible that Founders may have even asked them to do this?

Maybe samplings at places they will be selling it? Seems unusual for a Wholesale distributor to be doing samplings of a beer they will not let us buy. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for future reference.

Quit trying to make so much sense outta my comment, Nate...I'm just whining... :slight_frown: :grinning:

However, I doubt that Founders asked them to do it here and not elsewhere. I'm not hearing that this has happened with any of their other distributors?

Ultimately, they probably don't give two turds...but if really pressed for an opinion, I'd at least HOPE that Founders would prefer their customers all get equal treatment across their distribution region.

How does this even make sense??? W-G has to buy this beer right? Then they are going to eat this cost to give the beer away. Sounds like there is still something missing to me.

The beer distribution system is run by Underpants Gnomes. Everyone knows this...

... I have no clue how beer tiering works. Yet this still sounds right to me...

Sounds like W-McG received an extremely small quantity of Doom & will be selling barrels to their top Founders accounts. It also sounds as though the very small number of cases will be brought to accounts that do Founders events & "given away" in the manner outlined above.

...and in 2 months we see doom at hot dog shops for $40 a bottle.

I agree. I have a feeling that W-McG will give away their bottles to some stores, who will in turn sell them and make a huge profit. Just like the underpants gnomes.
