I bought a four pack a few weeks ago that was a few months old, having enjoyed RV in the past. It seemed this batch was way more carbonated than the previous versions I have had. I didn't get the full gush, but it took me about 20 minutes to pour a damn bottle into a glass because there was so much head. The least they could have done is hooked you up with some palate wrecker.

They can't ship beer out to individuals, but offered to ship me some swag or take care of me if I ever visit the tasting room. Overall I'm impressed by their customer service.

Ha, I had a fucked up six pack of Bells porter, their regional sales rep hand delivered a fresh sixer to my front door. Totally unnecessary but greatly appreciated. At least GF responded and acknowledged there were issues which seems rare.

There is a finite amount of fermentable components in the beer that brett can turn into a gas. When those components are fermented, no more carbonation will occur.

I am not sure where you are in Cali, but I live in Los Angeles county and my local Bevmo carries Helios.

Ive had the same issues and takes 5-10 minutes to pour 12oz. Halfway through consuming it, its almost flat its so carbonated from the get go. Love RV, but it is discouraging to purchase knowing whats ahead. Glad to hear they're making adjustments.

My bad, I thought I read your whole post but I must have overlooked that portion...

Interesting that you just got an email right after posting on BA. When did you email them?

Same thought process here. GF dates. I have never had a gusher, but have had overcarb.'ed glasses of foam that I had to let sit for a bit. I solved this by not buying old Rayon Vert, as I suspected age might make the overcarb. problem worse. Guess I was right.

Had my first one yesterday after reading this thread and remembering I had just bought one a week ago. Lost probably 15% on opening. After smelling and tasting, I wished 100% had boiled over.

I have not had gushing but it foams like craaazy trying to pour it into a glass. Even with a very careful pour and a beer-clean glass I get like an inch of beer before the foam has risen all the way to the top of the pint glass and I have to wait about five minutes before it recedes to the halfway point and I can try again. I have to do this 3 or so times, which takes a while.

A little hint, if you pre-wet your glass (fill it up with water and pour the water out) this will help mitigate the foaming issue.

    Cheers!

Bell's is fantastic. I had a problem with some fresh Two-Hearted that was drinkable, but had a much higher diacetyl level than normal, so I shot them an e-mail. They got back to me in two days, and sent me a box with two pint glasses, a speed opener, and some other swag that I can't remember right now.

That reminds me - I think I need to get some Two-Hearted next time I hit the beer store.

So, as I watched my first ever Rayon Vert fill up my glass with 7/8 foam, I thought: "didn't I see a BA post talking about carbonation problems with Rayon Vert?" Should have read this before opening so that I could have take precautionary measures (like wetting the glass). I didn't lose too much beer because I took my time pouring, but now this first beer has to work through the over-carbonation and starts out with a negative feeling.

If you pre-wet your glass, an over-carbonated beer will still foam up just not as much.

    Cheers!

I'm having similar issues with a case purchased directly from the brewery after a convincing sample on tap. Insane swaths of foam. Kudos to Sierra Nevada for nailing bottle conditioned mass produced ales and hoping GF dials this one in. In the mean time I must abstain.

I've only had Rayon Vert in 22oz format and, while it was a gusher, I had a large enough glass to contain it. I'm of the opinion that a 12oz bottle isn't enough to contain this beer.
