I never said they were bad either, I'd say most of what I've tried from them has been in the B- to B+ range. Problem is a few have been C- or lower. That fact, combined the increasing availability of grade-A beers means it's harder to pull the trigger and spend money on Sam.

I like some brews from SA and used to drink it much more 10 years ago, but now I can walk into the liquor store and grab some Surly Furious, Overrated or Indeed Day Tripper for just a dollar or 2 more than SA. Well that's not a tough choice at all, SA loses out.

    AB-InBev dropped 4%.

    From the article:

"It's brutal out there for everyone," Beer Business Daily said in a note to subscribers this morning. Well, not exactly everyone. Craft beer sales continue to rise.

Exactly. Those other breweries are much newer, much smaller, and somewhat more regional than Sam. The fact that beer geeks happen to like their beers better is not the reason they're growing faster (though it doesn't hurt).

Did Sierra Nevada's beer sales drop more than Sam Adams?

    No they didn't.

How do you know? I doubt they did, but there is no way of telling for sure.

    Are you sure about that?

Yes. Sierra Nevada is not publicly traded, and do not release quarterly reports. Therefore I have no way of getting their sales figures for the first quarter of 2013 to compare with SA's decline.

    Google Government "Incentives"

Just did, saw no incentives for beer sales dropping slightly. Please inform me.

I see you have stooped to baseless assertions and name calling. Not a surprise.

Usually, companies can get government incentives for new expansions (i.e. bring your jobs here) or for doing other projects that bring good to certain communities. I thought the other post-er was referring to the expanding brands (tea, etc), but re-reading it I think they were just being irrational. In any case, Sam Adams has likely garnered a lot of government incentives, but nothing like a big bank bailout or for declining beer sales.

Luckily, they've retained a little extra beer to drink away their sorrows.

Sam Adams Cream Stout and Noble Pils will hold their own against many a beer in their style. Boston Lager is as good a flagship beer as any. Hating on Sam Adams and loving craft beer is like loving Hendrix and Zeppelin, but hating on the blues, man! Are they as fun or flashy? No. But if it wasn't for them, a lot of beers may not be here today. And they still got their tunes that get heavy rotation

Assuming there are enough cave's around Allentown PA to age the clone. BBC could brew enough of a KBS clone to sell it at $9.99 a 6 pack and still meet demand. Since it would be easy to get it would be "meh" !

Make Old Fezziwig available in six packs instead of stupid mixed 12's.

I've been asking them to do this for years. I will buy sixers of Old Fezziwig but I will not buy their horrible mix packs
