Didn't stop plenty of people. Saw three people rolling out of their with Parabolas around 6:15. Glad it works out for those jerks over at Go Grocer.

The way Parabola is trickling out is very confusing. Got one at the Beer Temple today though so that was great, I am very fortunate. Chris probably thinks I'm a lunatic since I was over there about 15 minutes after he tweeted it.

I got a Parabola at Go Grocer as it's close to my house and didn't even realize how much I paid for it until I saw it on here and checked my online banking. They usually don't gouge this much, but needless to say I am probably never going to stop there again.

[devil's advocate] Doesn't it count for anything that if this place is close to your house, you didn't have to spend money on gas driving around on a hunt for it, also spending the time, and since time is money, it went towards the mark up? [/devil's advocate]

Now trust me, I've regretfully spent my share towards a price gouge because a) the product is still going to sell when there is always someone else willing to pay the mark up, and b) stores aren't going to 'learn a lesson' because little old me doesn't buy it at that moment, since (see a); and also c) I might not see the bottle on another shelf trying to get it at a few dollars cheaper, wasting more time and money on the effort and ending up empty handed.

Unfortunately, it is what it is.

Dude, I'm in Kansas and have my friend in the South Loop pick up for me! He got the LAST bottle of Parabola off the shelf at Binnys south loop at like noon.. I called at 10:30 and they had just put it out!! I was pumped he got it then made a trip to Missouri and found 4 bottles on the shelf....So now I have three! I'm just bummed he didn't make it in time for DOOM.. I can't get any Founders in KS..sucks

Not a lunatic...Although I still am getting used to the fact that people actually pay attention. Need to remember that the next time I've had a few and open up twitter!

Now time for me to play Devil's Advocate: Sure, You'll buy the Parabola/KBS/Doom there...But will you buy the Bell's Two Hearted there the next time you are shopping for one? Let's say they only gouge on rare releases in this scenario...

I get what you're saying, and I guess it's understood to be turned off as well in the case of shopping for your everyday beers, but then what happens when you run into gouging again on that next release at the shop that's now second-most convenient? It's a vicious cycle.

I really need to start hitting that place up, but for someone who is weight conscious, it is dangerously close to the Pork Shoppe.

I was very lucky and happened to score one @ Bottles and Cans for $14.99. It's a pretty special beer, just wish others didn't realize that

Only if you assume gouging is inevitable. Who's to say the second-most convenient store will be gouging?

When I lived walking distance to Noble Grape, it was worth an extra buck or two to not pay gas/parking or waste time driving all over Chicago. Plus, I could also check Lush on the next block for more goodies.

This is the same issue as the "$35/case at the pub." complaints about $12 FFF 6-packs. 2-4 gallons of gas + tolls makes that that $35 case more like $50.

Except most stores will be getting some Parabola and not charging like jag bags.

And most non-Binnys stores get some FFF and charge stupid amounts for 6-packs.

The price sucks, but I've been seeing $20 even at places that charged $14 for Sucaba. It's still not as jag bag as the $40 BCBS.

Love bottles and Cans. Wish they weren't so good at marketing though! All the good beers sell out so quick.

I picked up a couple on Saturday after DLD at Homewood Liquors in Homewood, IL at a pretty reasonable price, I thought. IIRC, it was around $17/ea.

Foremost Liquors in Schaumburg is asking 49.99 plus tax. WTF!

Hey man that's just the premium you pay for the convenience of not having to drive around to a bunch of places!

That is ridiculous. And I thought the place asking $32 for XVI was out of control.

Wait... but I thought Foremost was supposed to be America's Discount Liquor Supermarket. Oh yeah, discount liquor, not beer. Sheeeeit.

Part of me wants to drive there just to act shocked and then tell them to fuck off.
